To be honest I was really let down by GW2. I really liked it for a while but now it's starting to become a drag to play and they said that there would be no grind but in between story line quests you have you level a bunch and it really feels like grinding. I feel like it was over hyped but I really like the game and I wanna get back into it! Any help to make leveling in between quests more fun or easier would be nice and any other advice to help me get back into the game. Thank you!
The story was never meant to be the main way to level. You're not supposed to "just do the story". It's more of a guide to show you where you're supposed to be at what time. Gathering and crafting through discovery can level you amazingly fast, as well as zone completion or just exploring in general.
In fact, if you stop thinking about leveling at all you'd be better off, because when you get to the end of the game, what else is there to do but what you've been doing all along? It's the thought of leveling that's really the problem, not leveling itself.
Just try to get into the game and let the leveling take care of itself. Make sure you do dynamic events to those will help. Hearts are okay but dynamic events will level you fast, and often the hearts get completed incidentally when doing dynamic events. And don't run off after a dynamic event listen to what the NPCs are saying very often you'll end up with 2, 3 even four dynamic events back to back.
Right I know that the story line isn't the main thing but I really like it. Also my friends are never on and there all higher levels than me because they get more chances to play :( Thanks for the advice though I will definitely start exploring and completing maps!Quote:

I second Vayne in that you should join a really good guild. It might seems unimportant but a good group of friends to hang out with can really make or break any MMO, or any game for that matter. Depending on how social you are of course, but it's still have to have people talk in guild chat about silly, crazy stuff. It really lightens the mood.
If you haven't tried it yet, do some crafting. Also if you are gathering the crafting items it gives a great amount of exp, in fact everything in this game gives exp, from node gathering, to exploring, to doing hearts, doing DEs, crafting, the personal story, and killing random mobs. Honestly I don't understand how anyone in this game has trouble leveling. This game, by far, is the easiest leveling I've ever experienced in the 9 1/2 years I've been playing MMOs.
The reason why people have trouble leveling in this game is because Anet has done a poor job of explain how to level in this game. If you don't frequent the forums, and you just enter this game from other MMOs, Guild Wars 2 really lacks a bread crumb trail that other games have.Quote:

Guild Wars 2 works best when you ignore stars, but that's not what people have learned in other games. Honestly, I think this game could have used a better tutorial than the one Anet provided.
That's odd, I had played nearly a decade of MMOs before this one and I had no trouble figuring out what to do. Even being exposed to the "bread crumb" system of most games for many years, this game wasn't hard to figure out. I started playing GW2 in beta before I even dug into much about it, but I didn't have a problem figuring out how to level or what to do. I actually found it pretty refreshing that they didn't have one of those tutorials in this game leading you by the hand "this is how you move" "this is how you jump" "this is how you talk to an npc" "this is how you find your inventory" etc. I think most games lead people by the hand WAY too much. This game is a refreshing change from that. This game encourages you to find things out for yourself a little more than most games. Figuring things out on your own can be rewarding in and of itself.Quote:
