Known good hardware for running on Ubuntu?

Hello all, I started playing recently and while I was away from home (on the laptop that I have to use Windows on anyway) it wasn't really as much of a problem, but now that I'm back home and using my desktop, I really want to get the game running on Ubuntu instead of having to use Windows. My current hardware (namely a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 graphics card) was able to open and run the game with one set of drivers, but the FPS was low enough to not really be playable - and any other drivers it's not visible and/or won't start at all.

I'm thinking about getting a new computer soon, and I can try to gear it towards hardware that is known to work well with gw2 on Ubuntu. Therefore, what I'm looking for mostly here is any feedback from anyone that has successfully played gw2 on Ubuntu - what hardware is known to work well, and any other tips. Whether or not you've tried a manual install with wine or used PlayOn would be good information as well, as I had more success with my current hardware by doing a manual install.

If anyone else has similar hardware to my current setup and has gotten it to work, any suggestions there would also be highly appreciated.
