Possible guild merge on Tarnished Coast
Well, this should be an interesting situation. Back story time first though... I currently co-lead a guild called The Quietus Legion on Sorrow's Furnace. Our guild has been struggling lately with recruiting active members. Sorrow's Furnace in general seems to be somewhat lacking as of late as well...So I proposed the idea of us switching servers...Us active members decided on Tarnished Coast for a few reasons: It is decent at WvW and has the option for RP. Plus it seems that Anet employees like to hang out on this server since it seems to be known as the 'party' server for events!
Ok, so we decided to move to Tarnished Coast. We haven't made the move yet but that decision is there at least...now moving on with the story. Our guild was part of a multi-gaming guild called The Quietus Consortium. We had a SWTOR division and had plans to expand and create a Phantasy Star Online 2 guild for when that releases. I just received news from the main guild leader that The Quietus Initiative (our SWTOR division) decided to merge with another guild in SWTOR thus pretty much ending TQC as a multi-game guild.
Now, moving back on topic, through our discussions of transferring servers, we discovered that we would lose all of our influence as well as upgrades that we have invested in...thus pretty much starting over from scratch..another blow. Later in discussion, one of my guild mates who I happen to be good friends with in RL actually came out and respectful said, 'hey, if we don't get any new active guild members from this transfer, I am going to find another guild.' That actually hit me kinda hard and made me think...I haven't been the best guild leader as I have been too busy with other RL things lately. Life has kinda been taking a crap on me lately and I just don't have the time to commit to being a guild leader anymore...
So with everything that has happened, I recently threw out a proposal to my guild. Nothing is set in stone yet and we already have an offer from a guild but I would like to see and consider my options here. Pretty much there is about 5-8 of us who are or most likely going to be active if we can find a new home. The other 14 members we have barely come on anymore if at all...
Pretty much I am looking to see if there is an active guild who would be willing to take us all in should we decide this to be the route for us (which I am 99% sure will be the route we take). We aren't looking for a huge 100+ member guild that focuses on getting as many members as possible either. So extremely large guilds, sorry... However, we aren't looking for small guilds either as we do not wish to go through this unfortunate fate again... What we would be looking for is a well-established, moderately sized guild with at tons of ACTIVE members...We want to be able to sign on and be guaranteed that members are on (aside from your typical off-hours obviously). Essentially, we want to find a guild that is large enough to have LOTS of active members but small enough to get to know everyone and to not get lost in the crowd...lol Im not gonna put an exact number on it but hopefully this makes sense...
We are a group that loves to do Dungeons together, WvW, and general PvE. We are new to the RP scene but would love to get to know it as well. One of my good RL friends said he would probably start playing GW2 again if we found a good RP guild since hes big into RP so there is another member to add on as well should we find the right guild.
Pretty much, you will be getting a handful of lvl80s should this work out. I am a lvl80 Ranger equipped with an almost complete set of Errol's Exotics as well as a Mystic Crescent exotic short bow. I know a few others have tons of exotics as well...the other co-leader is wealthy as heck due to getting multiple lucky pulls of the Reaper staff skin from Halloween so I know he's well equipped...So whomever we go to will be getting well-equipped level 80s. I can promise you that about 1/4th of our 22 members are semi-active. Meaning we are active but life comes first always. So a guild who chooses us must be non-militarized and must understand this. However, another 1/4th of our members kind of go with the 'if your active, we'll be active' philosophy so I would like for them to have the opportunity of joining this guild to see if they start to become active again. As for the final 1/2, well, they are mainly the reason this post is happening so unless they reach out to me, don't expect them to come along..lol I can also promise you that were are all mature, college-aged and drama free. I have known most of of these guys for almost 10 years now from other guilds in other games and few I have known for the majority of my life in RL.
Like I said, nothing is set in stone yet. I recently posted this idea to my guild but I am confident they will want to see this change happen. Also, I should note to not worry about giving us high ranks or anything instantly. We aren't looking to become instant co-leaders or officers or anything of the sort from this merge. I just wanted to make that clear for your sake. We are merely looking for an invitation for a nice, active guild to become members of. Pretty much, it is a large multi-member recruitment of us into your guild rather than a merge. This post is to simply see what our options are so I can show these options to my guild mates.
