Sorry OP, but some of us don't wish for "open world PvP" anymore.

Open world PvP merely benefits those who have no real life and can game 24 hrs/day and thereafter ding max level, gear out, and harass others who are still leveling.

    Barrens/Tarren Mill chat anyone?

    /No Thanks

Or those who enjoy the risk of being attacked in the open world. Open world PvP and PKing is only for MANLY MEN.

I'm all against open world PvP in GW2 unless it's a different set of maps altogether (like WvW) but this is just a retarded generalization. Don't be so bitter because of a few griefers. Some of us enjoy PKKing those PKing arses.

Open PVP is for those kids who still live in their momy's basement and dont have girlfriends or any fomr of life outside of this fictional pixel world. Go and play baseball, fly a kite, plant flowers, help reforest the Amazon, go and save some monkeys in Uganda, volunteer for the Red Cross and you will see how you will hate open PVP.

Being played in so many Open World PvP MMORPG, I know enough that Open World PvP games hurt the company as a whole, (The community hurts even more). I remember when 1000 players cannot level in peace in their starting areas because 50 people with max gear and max level are farming the low level players for loot, for lolz, and to prove everyone that they are l33t. I remember those 50 people keep shouting in the world channel that nobody should level in this game because they control the game, They pwn the game, and nobody could stand in their way. "Lol, you noobz are so weak... come at me bro so I can rape you and teabag you because you're so stupid to go out of your gates."

The result, the majority of the player base just felt that they're getting more stress than fun and quit the game entirely. This doesn't happen to just one game, but a lot of Open World PvP MMORPG. If this made up of 80% of the total playerbase. How panic do you think would there be on the company if the game they made, actually made their customers unhappy and start to bottleneck their income?

I guess that the win-win solution here is to run a separate server with Open world PvP feature enabled. But really, how many of the playerbase really enjoys open PK mode? It's not much, only those hardcore, competitive player with a sense of pride to show off their insane number of time invested in the game by being able to kill other players in their sleep. Is it really worth it to run an expensive server just to accomodate that minority? It's much cheaper and effective as in the current model, where there's only one server that accomodates PvE, PvP, and WvW which is the open world PvP.

I understand that people find it fun to have Open World PvP. Whether it is to gank people or the challenge. But also understand that this is a minority compared to the huge playerbase. If you find it fun, do you think your victims find it fun? Do you think it is fun when you are trying to gather some materials, and some level 80 just swoops down and one-shot you without even being able to defend yourself? Do you think it's fun when this happens 24/7 when they are waiting outside your starting areas city gates, aiming their longbows at you waiting for you to have that one step out of the safe zone and they get to kill you in an instant.

Trust me, if GW2 made an Open World PvP for everyone, they would go bankrupt real quick, because the vast majority of people don't enjoy it, they find it frustrating, and if they can't find fun in a game where the elite rules the newcomers in strength and ego. They will leave the game, and ArenaNet will NOT get revenue from them. In the end, the leftovers are the hardcore PKers (still having fun) but that doesn't cover their server expenses, and will eventually closed down.

I've seen it happen to various Open World PvP MMORPG, and they're bad for business.. and the community.

A good example AION, at least the last time I tried to play it. Those macho man PVPers who sit at mommy's home always spoil the game for others

Why are these fictional macho men broke and cant afford their own place? Can't 2-3 of these guys room together? These macho man dont sound financially savvy.

to me, open world pvp is just a big zone where everyone can join, fight for objective or just kill the opposing faction.

but this is what WvW is, everyone can join. you can pve there, you can farm materials there, there are jump quests there.

i dont think we need to bring pvpers into the main world in GW2.
    However
it could be fun if there were more incentive for lower levels/non pvpers to venture out into WvW for certain quests/puzzles/dungeons etc but weren't mandatory. in a previous game i played i found it kind of fun to farm mobs and for certain loot in the PvP zone. it added a sense of danger for those who liked it, and im not really talking about greifing low levels, but the challenge of having to fend off enemies in well matched fights and then rushing to finish the PvE objective you were working on whether it be a Boss/Dungeon/puzzle or whatever before more enemies came.

run-on sentence much... yes i do lol oh well.

Naturally. And the Dark Knight Rises tragedy happened because of violent video games.
