You *might* buy it? Madness, buy buy buy now now nowI've had it pre-ordered for about 1.5 months.
The game looks amazing, and only some 52 days till release http://countdown.free-and-online.com/?timer=ogpsfl3112 (yes I check this timer all the time, lol)
I really want to see some PC gameplay though, since Oblivion wasn't a good console port (the modding easily made up for it in more ways than one, though). Apparently PCs get increased textures and a slightly different interface, I can't wait to see how this game looks maxed out on a PC.
All depends on the $$ at hand around then, November is a busy busy month! I'm a huge pirate, but every now and then comes along a game that I'd rather have the CDs and install/not have to worry about any bugs/things screwing up due to packaging the iso.. This could very well be one of those games. lol
True, money can be a problem around Christmas time, especially since all the big game releases around that time (Minecraft comes out of beta on 11/11/11 as well as Skyrim releasing).
I think Skyrim is worth the price though. I don't know how it is where you live but you can save a lot of money by looking around. In Australia all retailers sell AAA new games for at least $80-90 on PC and at least $100-110 on consoles (keeping in mind AUD is actually worth *more* than USD now, that's pretty ridiculous). I found a shop called OzGameShop a few months ago and I get titles for about 2-4 times cheaper now, I just have to wait 2 weeks for it to ship from the UK. I mean, BRINK is $15 on OzGameShop but $70 in EB Games? Ugh.
I've seen a ton of hype for skyrim, but I don't see the charm. It looks like demon's souls with a worse combat system and more NPCs to talk to and or slice into bits. In oblivion, I mostly did the latter. I did mod the game so that dudes were naked when looted, but that didn't keep me playing very long either (which is saying a lot). The exploration aspect doesn't appeal to me either, knowing I'm exploring the same thing that everyone else is, except none of us are actually playing together.
Different somethings for different folks or however it goes, I guess.
Lol I, too, enjoyed living a life of crime in Oblivion, except I mostly shot people full of arrows from the shrubs. I used the guard overhaul mod so that some guard in one town doesn't automatically peg you for a criminal because you stole something weeks ago in another town on the other side of the planet.
I hadn't ever though about exploring the same thing other people are exploring...that doesn't bother me, because it's still new to me.![]()

Well that's the problem really, the exploration and freedom is what sets the game apart. If you're not into that kind of stuff, then TES games would understandably be pretty boring.I view TES games as a sandbox game with roleplaying thrown in.
Although if it bothers you that you're exploring what everyone else is, apparently the game world in TES: Daggerfall is the size of the UK. There would be plenty of content that no one has ever seen, I'm sure.![]()
I started playing Oblivion but stopped after a few levels when I a) realised that I would never get anywhere with my OCD of entering every hole in the ground that I found and b) I completely failed to understand how you levelled up. I thought I could decide which stats that got an extra bonus (on top of the numbers shown) not which stats got the numbers shown which gave me a rather badly levelled character (a battlemage with the wrong stats are quite hard to play for some reason...).
I recently watched a Let's Play of it instead, much better and I could do it while working
That said knowing this I guess I could avoid b) this time but a) will still be a problem and I like actually finishing games and not just exploring random ruins and dungeons with no other purpose than exploring. I like exploring, but there needs to be some kind of idea behind it![]()
Feeling tired? There's a nap for that.
