Gameovercast | Eurogamer interview questions request

    Hi,

The Gameovercast was lucky enough to see a live demo of Guild Wars 2 at Gamescom plus get an interview with Chris Lye (Global Brand Director for ArenaNet) and Matthew Moore (QA team)

You can listen to the podcast here (if you are only interested in the interview it starts an hour into the show)

We liked Guild Wars 2 so much we asked to do another preview and interview at Eurogamer in London this Saturday and we thought it would be awesome to take some questions directly from the games fans to the developers.

So if anyone has anything they would like us to ask about the game please post them here and we will be back with an update towards the end of next week.

Nice initiative. Here's one small concern of mine that I haven't had answered yet (although I know they have very efficient network code in place):

    * In Guild Wars 1, if you had 100 people together in a town or outpost, the amount of lag and server disconnects would increase significantly, although there were absolutely no monsters, no combat, no fighting animations in effect there. How are you able to create huge areas with lots of things going on and hundreds of players, and still maintain good performance even on medium spec pc's?

    and

    * Will the asura gates in each of the major cities give access to ALL other major cities, or are there restrictions (say, for example, you cannot get to The Grove from Hoelbrak, but you can get to The Grove from Rata Sum, or something like that)

I would like to know if there will be anyway to customise the ranger pets, through the dye system or unique items bought through the MT shop ?

What's the maximum amount of guilds you can join as of now?

Curious to know, because I plan on taking part in quite a few if they let me.

I could swear I heard somewhere you could do some basic single-layer dye-ing of pets, at least on some of them.

I think you can find the answer to this in this blog post:

Q: Will we be able to add armors to pets, dress them up, add decorative items, or even dye them?

Eric: No. Pets do not have armor slots and cannot be dyed. If you want a different variety of pet, you can always go find and capture one. For example, if I want a black bear instead of a polar bear, I can always go tame a black bear.

    If I'm not too late:

*What is the maximum inventory size in GW2? Will we see expandable inventory space akin to GuildWars 1?

Without purchasing additional slots from the in-game store (if that will be possible at all)?

This is what the wiki says about this:

A character starts with 20 inventory slots given by a Starter Backpack. This space can be expanded with four additional containers. An example expansion container is Leather Bags which give 20 inventory slots each.
So yes, they're using the same system that they had in GW1, and I guess the maximum depends on the maximum size of the bags, but you should easily get past 100 inventory slots per character.

And I know today is the day, so I hope this isn't too late, but here's something that's been on my mind for a while:

    * Some people are completionists, they like to have a fixed set of goals that they can work towards completing 100% of... such as the titles in GW1. In the ever changing world of dynamic events that is GW2, what does the game offer for this group of players?

Thanks for the info Centaur. It's a bit disappointing that pets wont be customisable as I think it would add something cool for the ranger character to do, and would give a stronger attachment with the pet, for the player as people would know different pets by sight.
