Long patch or just a bad installation?

I purchased my physical GW2 copy today and installed without any problems (notice that before I had it installed, I already had the gw2.exe launcher file on my pc).

So after installing, I was specting a small patch of common fixes, but now I got to download around 69k files, so im not sure about the weight of that patch I think around 6gb, that with my 130kbps down rate is going to take a good while.

Is this normal? or should I uninstall, delete and reinstall from scratch everything again?.

I'm guessing, since you've posted one week ago, everything is working now. I would recommend to uninstall/remove everything and then re-installing the game from scratch, but I doubt it would have caused you any problems to be honest.

The patch should be around 3GB, and yes, that's normal... given how many updates/patches have been released for this game since the disks were printed (which could easily be 2 months ago by now), that large on-time patch is what you will have to sit through. After that, assuming that you play the game every day/week, most subsequent patches will be considerably smaller.
