Thread: Char Faces

    Char Faces

Registered just to post this, because it boggles me.

I totally understand the desire to make Charr more bestial and feral looking.
But why do their faces look like a bizarre cross between lizards and pugs?

In Guild Wars 1, we had some seriously formidable looking Charr:

They were impressive, still feral looking, with terrifying lion features. You could hunch them over, make them digitigrade, and you'd be set. Instead, the Charr in Guild Wars 2 have this gnarly, disgruntled squashed, moth-full-of-T-Rex-Shark-Teeth face look about them in every screenshot:

The only decent-looking screenshot I can find of them is this one, from the side, but even then I can't really trust it, because it's from the side:

So what gives, guys? Are we just not releasing screenshots of good looking Charr? It's not like that's not something people want to see!

Hi ortizgames, welcome to these forums.

See this article on how the charr developed from what they were in GW1 to what they are now in GW2. Yes, I think the difference arose from the desire to make them look like large, fierce cats... and the influence of Kekai Kotaki. However, character customization allows for quite a bit of variation in how fierce you want them to be.

And note that even in GW1 you could already find much of that same fierceness:

Not faces but this image touches on something I have always wondered

Will I be able to make a straight backed charr like the one on the left in the picture? Not that quasimodo charr is bad (certainly not great though IMO) I just like straight back better.

I dunno if you'll be pleased or disappointed, but you can get a quick glimpse of the male charr character creation (obviously this is unfinished) here:

And no, you can't be upright as a charr, only kinda hunched.

Good point.... By the way the charr looks awesome with white n black stripes. Kinda reminds me of a White Tiger.

I agree with centaur. Character creation appears to give you alot of freedom with how fierce or mean your charr looks. In the videos, they showed a nice diversity with looks. You can lean towards a wise peaceful sage, or a foaming barbarian. Im much more likely to go for the second. lol

If the character creation borrows anything from Aion, which who knows it might being they're both inside of the NCsoft family, then character creation will range from simple to daunting. I spent around 30 minutes per character trying to get the look I wanted.
