    Battlefield 3 beta

Has any of you guys checked it out yet? Still some minor(a few major) glitches but it's looking awesome! I'm playing on the ps3, feel free to add me for a match: Salx55.

I've seen plenty of footage, looks great, as BF games tend to be (; Also as always with BF games it sounds even better than it looks, literally.

I'm not rushing into the beta though, because apparently the only map available is Operation Metro, which has absolutely no vehicles in it. A BF game with no vehicles is like a GW2 with no dynamic events. May look into joining in once I get my 6850 graphics card.

I love how it looks, not so in love with how it plays. I will buy the game, as i would love to play through such a beautiful looking game in campaign mode. But i prefer closer quarters, faster paced action in shooting games.

I wouldn't say it's bad though, clearly it does what it does very well, but it's just not my sort of shooter. At least in multiplayer.

It's fun, been playing it a bit in the last couple days although I'm very sick of the current map that's available. I don't like how 2/3 of the map is indoors, BF to me has always been an outside shooter and while it's nothing to the point of being CODtarded with lone wolf running around slaughtering people, but inside combat just feels too boring and unorganized.

The grahics are amazing, gameplay is nice, the weapons don't have much weight to them unfortunately where as in the other games when I shot the gun it felt heavy and like it packed a punch.. New systems like suppression fire where you can just spray bullets at someone and it blurs and shakes their screen is really cool - gives an actual 'COVER ME IM RUNNING TO THE NEXT BUSH' feeling when your teammates cover you and it affects those shooting at you.

Few things that are really annoying is the way the lens flare works with sniper rifle scopes. I can understand that with the bushes being thick and maps being pretty big that you need some way to see snipers.. but do you really?? It's stupid when I'm well in a bush, making sure that my scope is hidden and no sunlight is going to reflect, but soon as I go into my scope mode a bright white light shines like a fucking flashlight that HEY IM HERE! It's ridiculous. That's not sunlight bouncing off my lens, that's just retarded coding. Even in underground you can be looking through your scope and it's dark as hell in there, but your scope turns into a flashlight when you look through it. Bit broken.

Other than that, good graphics, pretty fun, it's not optimized for SLI so i've got a decent amount of screen tearing even with VSync on, but that's just a beta thing hopefully. Will be interesting to see the other maps they start bringing out for beta.

They opened a proper large map with vehicles (buggies, APCs, tanks, helicopters, jets) apparently, but password protected the servers and I think they shut them down now. The game play looked much more fun on that map and much more Battlefield-esque. I have no idea why they would force people into Metro \=

It sounds like that sniper scope thing might be a beta issue, but it makes sense that the scope makes *some* reflection, from both a realistic and gameplay point of view, though it sounds like it's doing more than that. It would be nice if there was an unlockable upgrade where you can wrap your sniper rifle in a ragged cloth and it makes a large reduction in reflection, gameplay wise sort of like a flash suppressor for snipers.

I could get on board with upgrades that mask the reflection as you described, but no I don't think it is a beta issue at all.. It really looks and feels like game mechanics, rather than a bug/beta issue as to how the scope reflects = spotlight infront of you. I REALLY think it's just their way of making it so snipers can't just sit there undetected all match, which would be VERY easy to do given the brush mechanics and being able to go prone. Then again, if this is their way to deal with snipers, they're idiots.

And yeah I'm playing it on PC. i5 760 @ 4ghz, 2x GTX 460 in SLI, 8gb RAM, running it on highest everything, seems to get 50-90fps
