so after the loader updated i can press play but then its on black screen and crashes.

It could be that your installation was corrupted.

Two things:
1. What is your system configuration (CPU, graphics card, amount of memory, what Windows version, etc)

2. Try repairing the installation:
- Create a copy of your Guild Wars 2 shortcut
- Right-click on that copy and select "Properties"
- In the Target field, append -repair after the quotes, so for example:
"C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe" -repair
- Save this, and double-click on that shortcut to start the repair

If you have multiple characters on your account, did you try logging in with another character?
Or did you try creating a second character?
Sometimes, after such updates, logging in with a second character, then switching back to your original character, can solve the problem...

not even able to go to character selection

when i click on the guild war 2 icon

then login


then click on play button

after 30 secs then crash

Hey dragonninja, what's your current status? Did any of the new patches solve the issue?
If not, then a reinstallation may indeed be necessary.
(I don't know if you ever created a backup of the folder after it was successfully downloaded... if so, then you could just delete your current folder's contents and copy the contents of the backup folder into it, then patch it from there...)
