    I'd have to say it's the personal storyline, for a few reasons.

    Dynamic events and event chains are persistent, but not permanent. What's always been missing from MMOs, for me, is the idea that I'm an individual in a world, not just another character.

    When everyone gets the same story no one is different. Roleplayers have to make their own character histories, because the game doesn't provide it. This isn't optimal, from my point of view, because so many people aren't great writers and, honestly, don't know enough about lore and story to write something plausible enough to not throw me out of the game.

    Now, if I'm a human and my friend is a human, we can still have completely different stories. Think about what that might do for replayability if nothing else.

    As a die-hard altoholic, I'm sure I'll be spending most of my free money on character slots. lol

    It took a lot of thinking to really single only one mechanic about GW2 that I like most.

    In the end, though, I think the thing that is really the most gamechanging to the MMO genre is the WvWvW of all things. It will be the GW2 equivalent of a "PvP server" except it seems like it would be more like a 24/7 battleground that you can level up in.

    The scaling of everyone to 80 stats will make the game more intense when leveling in the environment, because everyone would be a threat, not just people who have leveled as much as you have.

    In addition, it doesn't force players into one type of game from the start of character selection. That was one of the big problems with the old-style PvP/PvE server split, in my opinion. If you liked or had any desire whatsoever to (world) PvP, you *had* to roll on the full-blown PvP server, even if you only wanted to PvP maybe 10% of the time. Otherwise, you would relegate yourself to PvP celibacy for the entirety of your gaming experience.

    The only thing I'm still interested in finding out about their current WvWvW proposal is how exactly one moves around from the RP world to the WvWvW section and back again. I do hope there is at least some rule preventing people from hopping out of a fight if they see 10 enemies running toward them.

    Heh, I'm sorry but I just can't pick one. I got a taste of dynamic events in Warhammer Online and Rift I think it's great; it's got great potential to allow players to come to each other's aid in random encounters, making building up camaraderie all the more possible when they find themselves thrown together by chance in a dynamic quest.

    I got a chance to experience Dynamic Combat with Conan Online and I think that also has a lot of potential, rather than making a fight a stand-here-and-click-a-certain-hot-button affair like you see in "The MMO That Must Not Be Named". It gives you a feeling of being more in control and putting more actual skill and tactical prowess into a fight.

    But I also like what I've heard about the minigames and the interactive environment. As a roleplayer, I like being able to do things (even crafting) which indicates a character has more interests besides running around and killing stuff. It gives a character more dimensions when they have pass times, hobbies, and so forth. It lets you give personality to them, and a way of interacting with others and potentially create a more meaningful bond between characters and, subsequently, players.

    I'm also eager to see how the dye system turns out and if they're going to allow players to maintain their character's appearance with something like appearance slots for items; you know, where you keep an items look but not its stats or something like that. Again, the way you look, to a roleplayer, is important and being able to customize your appearance really contributes to your character as a personal creation.

    There are a number of features I've heard about coming in this game, and so far the developers seem to be getting all of them right, from my point of view. I just can't pick one!

    1) WvWvW - I like doing PvP, but it is next to impossible to get balance without a 3-way system. Add to that the pairings will change every 2 weeks based on score is king!

    2) Dynamic events - the public quest style system is always so more grabbing. Also lead-by-the-nose quests rarely have you explore all the map, and almost never reward you beyond a small achievement and some paltry xp. Dynamic events gets you out looking for trouble.

    3) the skill/trait system - this is key to fun gameplay. A system that works more on enhancing a smaller set of usable skills ratehr than covering my screen with qbars.

    There is some very important things, world pvp, skill system, underwater exploration. But, to be honest, the single most aspect Im looking forward to... Is the CRAFTING.

    I'm pretty sure crafting is not one of the dev's priorities, and Im not expecting omfg amazing crafting like say, eve online. (although that's a totally different beast altogether) but I'm hoping crafting will at least be solid and relatively enjoyable.

    In most MMO that I have played with a crafting system I end up with an OCD'ish urge to master ALL crafts... Requires many, and I mean many! Mules and Craft alts... it's horrendous.

    The fact a single character can learn all the crafting trades, is extremely underrated. I like the fact lvls are saved when you switch to another trade, thus your main character can (with great time and resource investment, I'm sure) master all crafts.

    I'm also looking forward to the random recipes learned features. It's been so long since ive played such a trade system. Heh, VLT crafting!

    If only it also included a crew skills system like swtor as well! Would be awesome.

    Hi SoNewbieItHurts (nice name ), welcome to this forum! If you haven't already taken a look at how GW2 will do crafting, then you may be pleasantly surprised. The devs have definitely spent a lot of time trying to get the crafting right as day-one priority. It sounds like you've already looked into it a bit, but if you haven't read any of this info yet, then make sure to check it out:

    * this official blog post
    * this press beta article
    * this video.

    As for crew skills... unlikely, at this stage, but you never know what the future will bring.

    Ah, the welcoming committee! Why thank you. Oh, you even came with a basket of goodies! Unfortunately, I've already supped on those delicacies.

    I'm sure the dev's said crafting is important to them. Every game has spurted that dogma. Then when you get your hands on it... Betrayal, heartache, and despair! Over the years, I've become quite cynical. Most crafters have become jaded. It's almost enough to turn someone into a misanthropist.

    Hope for the best and expect the worst.

    Anywho, seems you lot got a nice forum here. I intend to stick around awhile, if y'all don't mind.
