Thread: Is GW2 soloable past lvl 16 - what class best for solo?

  1. #41
    I have a necro lvl 66 now and i have soloed the whole time.I run staff and 2 daggers and have all minions out with traits set for minions.I have had very little trouble with any content except for certain champions that require more people.I have soloed certain champions myself though(think half hour fight).I dont kill fast but i get healed from all my pets and also get added toughness per pet.You should be able to solo any class.Just take the time to go over all your skills and traits and stick to whatever plan you think will work and adjust as needed.

    Make sure your armor, weapons, and jewelry are up to date and you will roflstomp everything all the way to 80. Orr areas get more difficult, actually Risen in general I fond more difficult, but yes, you can easily, get to 80 solo if you keep your gear up to date and have a decent build.

    I never updated my gear lol, I leveled too fast. I hit 80 with no earings, the hero badge thing they give you at the start, and like, level 40-60-ish green gear. I think I had one rare weapon that was like lvl 70 something. Didn't really bother with blue upgrades, just kept salvaging them for mats.

    To keep your gear up to date you have to either have enough cash to buy or be able to craft your own. I find that gathering nodes are rare. Not in the, lots of folks gathering rare, but in the, wow 3rd on I found in several days of playing rare. As far as builds go, you either have to find a successful one online or just put points anywhere and hope they work.

    Nodes are everywhere o_O Just keep a closer eye on your minimap, they all show up there.

    Gear is so cheap that it is obscenely easy to keep it up to date. Maybe that will change as time goes by but right now it is really easy to upgrade your gear every 5 to 10 levels unless you are burning cash on trade skills or something.

    The class you play does play a huge role in how easy the game is though. I thought it was just a low level thing but my Guardian is now in her 50s and she still makes my Elementalist look like chopped liver. The power curve between those two classes is extreme. The Guardian does the same damage with a ton more survivability.

    As someone mentioned cash problems, I have a hint for those blue and green items you find and don't need (especially when of higher lvl 50+): if you don't plan on crafting, but sell all the mats you gather, it's normally more profitable to sell blue items (only those of higher lvl;watch the price of the mats you'd get and compare them to the vendor price). Most blue items I find (lvl 77 right now) sell for about 60c while I'd likely only get one piece of ore,cloth or whatever out of it that sells for less than 30c.
    This is especially true for heavy armour and metal weapons;
    with cloth armour I often check on the tp prices, as cloth tends to be rarer and thus more expenive on the tp.

    I never had cash problems either, I hit level 80 with like 28g. (which includes the deduction from the final trait book).

    Some classes are easier to solo than others, but all are soloable to 80.
    Worst case, just stick to smaller pulls while completing hearts and take part in every group event you see with at least one other participant.
    You can be underleveled and undergeared and still level pretty fast this way.
    If you want to solo stomp large groups, wait until you are 10 or more levels above the area with higher level gear and just about any class will have an easy time.

    I am playing Elementalist at the minute and solo'd to level 30. The trick is to do all or most of the low level areas before you go to the 15 to 25 areas.
