What class interests you the most?

Feel free to discuss why your particular class interests you, what game play aspects you plan to play the most and things along those lines. Or not, its a pretty relaxed atmosphere up in here really. I am just curious to see what people will be picking launch day.

I haven't thrown in my hat because I honestly am not sure, I personally lean towards either Engineer, Ranger, or Pistol/Dagger based Thief. However the idea of a highly mobile shield based Warrior is pretty interesting and the Elementalist is just so shiny with so many toys its hard to pass up. Really the only things not interesting to me at all are the Necromancer and Guardian.

I'm a ranger type of guy... I like ranged combat, and I like having a pet companion who takes the hits (and I hope they will get them right after the redesign, so that they actually become useful). Being able to switch to melee weapons such as sword and dagger, or harpoon gun (underwater) is just the icing on that cake.
Thief looks amazing too, though... that may well be my second character.

To me the what really piqued my interest in the ranger was its ability to self rez. A possibly sneaky strategy is to use some sort of jump ability if the ranger has it, and it had better, at low health to propel your self off a ledge when you are about to die.

Hopefully you land far enough away that when you die from fall damage your pet can rez you before they can reach you for a stomp. I think the engineer could pull that off too by timing the smelling salts with dieing to fall damage.

My main on GW was a warrior, which will continue into GW2. I've never really attached myself to a single playstyle from game-to-game. I was a Hunter in WoW, a warrior in GW, a healer in Champions Online/DCUO, and other MMO's have always been varied as well.

There's a good chance I'll completely despise warrior in GW2 and switch to something else. As of now though, that is going to be my main character.

My favorite profession is a Guardian of course! I love being a tank/support character, which is why I was a prot paladin in WoW.

Lol, I'm the only one that chose Mesmer? (Well potentially). I love being a support class, no clue why because everyone else seems to hate it. I use to play FFXI and I was BRD most of my FF career though DRK is my favorite job but there's not really a class that relates to that in GW2 so Mesmer will be what I want. Other than that..if no Mesmer..maybe Warrior or Guardian..not sure.

I'll probably end up choosing Mesmer but I don't want to assume since I have absolutely 0 idea how it's going to play. For now I picked Engineer because I've always loved the idea of building up defences and using tech to kill the enemies. I'm a huge Engineer fan in TF2 as well as Infantry (even though it's a faded game ): ).

Admittedly the GW2 engineer doesn't really compare to TF2 engineers in any way, but I still love the concept/theme.

I've never understood why warriors are so popular. I always get so bored playing them in any MMO, you typically just run up and start slashing and tanking, and the animations are usually sub-par or unnoticable compared to spell casters and such. Maybe GW2 will change my mind with the addition of proper bow+gun+melee play on warriors, but they still seem a bit simple for my liking.

I'm pretty much an elementalist by default in any game that allows a similar type of playstyle, but the Guardian and Engineer both look like they could give the Elementalist a run for its money in GW2. I'll have to wait and see

Feeling tired? There's a nap for that.

I chose Guardian because of the flashy blue lights, glowing mists and the Retnoob (TBC) inside me still wishes to find a place called home.
