This seperates people from each other by making them different, but not better.
It sounds a lot like guild wars 1, which in any case that's a good thing. I continue to like what Anet is doing with guild wars 2. I wonder why so many people are complaining every time a certain game element defers from the traditional MMO convention. Guild Wars 2 is attempting to be something different, by doing what every other MMO does it will only fall under the same trap as many of those games. At the end of the day Anet is trying to broaden it's game far greater than just the, "MMO players". This seems like a nice step to do such.

I saw a very fitting comment in another forum earlier. It basically said when a developer tries to implement new features without including the old, it fails, because it's not following what should be a standard in the market. But at the same time, if a game copies the standard, it's then branded a clone and doomed to fail.

It seems like with the MMORPG genre, and perhaps more but this is the one I pay attention to, games are damned if they do and damned if they don't. However I'm all for "damning" GW2 for following the latter if my previous statement holds true. By not following the industry standard, they are getting rid of or changing what doesn't work with the MMORPG, in their and my opinions, and implementing features that will bring a new game experience and a new audience. Innovation and for the lack of a less cliche saying, thinking outside of the box are the types of things that will improve the market overall and Arenanet is leading the way imo.
