    Negatives about this game

We all know that every game isn't perfect so I want to know what you dislike about the game.

I've played the game for about 15 hours and these are what I dislike about the game:

Personally, I hate the way they have made it so your level goes down if you are in a lower level area. Sure, this may stop higher level players from helping lower level players but it just takes the fun away from levelling because you know that once you reach your limit in that area you no longer have much of a advantage. Also this takes away the dominance I like to feel when i enter a lower level place and 1 hit everything in my path.

Secondly, I don't like the way the quests are being performed. Sure, the dynamic events are a brilliant way for people to work together but I miss having the traditional quest list where I can gather as much quests as i can and go through them in my own time.

Last but not least, the game isn't very "newb" friendly. By that I mean it doesn't give you an overview of the UI at the beggining of the game ... it took me over a hour to figure out what the UI contains because it contains so much stuff I didn't know where to begin. I also spent most of the time was at the screen in confusion because I had no idea what anything meant and how it worked (especially the trading post).

I have no idea if these points I have mentioned change during further game play (I've only played ~15 hours) but these are my main negative points about the game.

What don't you like about the game?

Personally I like the level reduction when you are above the level of the area, several times I have continued in an area and not even noticed I had been level capped, I was having too much fun.

My only real dislike is the limitation in weapon skills. I normally find that there is 1 in a set that doesn't fit my way of play or the skills are in the wrong place for my key binds. As an altoholic, I try and make it so that the same keybind does similar things on different characters, such as leap or charge the enemy. In this system on one character it can be on button 2 on another it will be on button 3. A small gripe, but it can be a bit annoying, I would like the ability to choose where I put the skills. I would also like to see a bit of choice in the weapon skills, not much, but maybe an extra skill for main hand and off hand weapons and an extra 2 skills for 2 handed weapons that could be interchanged with the normal ones to give a bit of variety.

I'm not going to post what I dislike about the game (because it's very little), but I am going to respond to what you have to say:

If you've only played for 15 hours, what you may not realize is that while you cannot one-shot things later on, you will be significantly more powerful than you actually would be at that level. Sure, it may say you're level 15, but if you're really level 60 underneath it, you will have a considerably easier time surviving and killing things than someone who really is level 15.

It is truly better than you destroying an event for other players, which is what would happen if you "one-shot" everything in the vicinity during an event.

So...how is it different? Most quest-lists require you to be in a particular area to perform them, and the hearts work the same way. You don't have to finish them while you're there. You can still go through them at your leisure. That's what I do.

I didn't have much of a problem figuring it out. But, it's probably true that people pick things up at different speeds.

These are not attacks on you, but I am going to suggest that you might be approaching the game the wrong way. The problem I see a lot is that people try to squeeze this game into the mold of past MMOs instead of approaching it as what it is: something entirely new.

I understand that the levelling system will give me an advantage to me at a much higher level, but I just don't like the idea of being setback at certain areas.

It's different because I usually go around racking as much quests as I can from different areas then go through them all with my friends when they have the time. Correct me if I'm wrong but I see no "Quest List" anywhere and I have noticed that they isn't as much "hearts" as there was quests in guild wars 1

I understand that this game is something entirely new (which is the exact reason i bought it because i always find standard MMORPG's boring) and i had approached it that way, it's just I would of expected the levelling and quest system to be similar to the rest of the MMORPG's

    I have played 300+ hours and I don't like

    Bots
    Broken SP
    Broken DE
    Never having enough* money (subjective)

This game is damn near flawless. I am not going to comment on the whole mindset that this game compared to that game. No, no more comparing apples to oranges for me.

Anet - now, kill the bots.

That's because that's what Dynamic Events are for. There might be 301 hearts (accurate number) but there are 1000s of dynamic events.

And this is the problem. People say they want something different, then when offered something different they complain that it's not just like every other game.

Down-levelling is probably the single best feature of the game because it ensures content is never trivialised. Everquest, for example, has hundreds of zones but only a couple of dozen are of any use because expansions have trivialised the rest by level (too low) or content (nothing useful drops there).

This is what the issue is:

You say you approached it as something new, but you're still trying to squeeze it into the standard MMO box. As long as you keep trying to push that circular peg into that square box, you are not going to be satisfied. The problem is that, no matter how hard you push, that circular peg is never going to fit through that square box, ever. At some point, you either have to give up on it completely, or accept that you need to accept it for what it is and put that peg into the right hole.

The advantage of this system is that content never becomes trivial. They can add new dynamic events, new boss monsters etc in a lower level zone, and you can still play through that zone and enjoy yourself, instead of one-shotting everything with your level 80 character.

Hearts aren't the real replacement for quests. Hearts are only an 'intermediate' system so people who are used to quests don't feel completely lost. The real core of GW2's system is the dynamic events. And yes, you cannot have a quest list in which you collect as many DEs as possible, because the world around you is dynamic and what is available changes all the time. But you and your friends can go to any zone you want, explore that zone, and do whatever is available there. ArenaNet didn't want the same stale model where you're just 'going through the motions'. Figuring out what triggers a dynamic event is now part of the challenge (as opposed to a static quest giver with an exclamation mark over his head).

I know that this system takes some time getting used to... and the same applies to the combat system too. The game tries to gradually introduce you to new concepts, so combat will become more challenging as you level up.
Just give it time. And if you want something useful to read (would probably have been even more useful before you started playing...) then I recommend giving Vayne's primer a try. It's a long read, but very informative.

I don't understand why everybody is so fired up about my opinions, I mean everybody is entitled to one right? I only asked what are your negatives about the game. I've said my reasons and I will stick by them. I appreciate the feedback and all but I cant help what I do and don't like.
