Feeling tired? There's a nap for that.
I have a new lover, and her name is Star Wars: The Old Republic. It's been a long time since I've been as impressed with a game like I was with TOR. There are still some kinks to work out, but the base of the game goes beyond anything a MMO has attempted in the past.
The gameplay reminds me of a blend between WoW and DCUO. I actually found my time spent in DCUO helped me transition to the more involved aspects of fighting in TOR. There are no auto attacks, and you have to seriously think about how you combo your moves. The terrain is an advantage for some classes, and each of them play uniquely. The PvP was a bit borked, but that was due to FPS issues which I'm hoping will be fixed come game time.
The presentation of the game is second-to-none. I didn't get any of my characters beyond level 10, because I didn't want to spoil anything. That's how good this game's story is, I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT SPOILERS. I don't think I've ever been able to say that about any MMO. The team-up aspect of the game is fun, I ran a couple of flashpoints and teamwork is a must to get through them. Again, position and strategy are a must for boss fights.
I'm supremely excited, and relieved that I believe my pre-order for the game wasn't a waste. TOR will be more than enough to keep me occupied until GW2 comes out, and might even divert some of my time even when it does release.
