I dont ever notice the ''weakness'' in my mesmer. I mean, im literally fighting about 3-5 mobs at a time, uncluding a veteran or two in there. I find it no stress or hassle to take down a large group of mobs.

If anyone remembers in Lornar's pass that group of like 12 Grawls on the ice in a circle just chillin, well run in there with a staff and Greatsword and the jobs done. You need to find out how to roll the mesmer, be it more illusions or just more dodging. Idk, I picked up on it instantly, its a lovely class. Main for sure.

Got to 80, and got full exotic. I did my first wvwvw yesterday with my guild. We were losing the whole time by a large margin. An opposing server controlled 1/2 of the map, while my server and the last remaining were between 20 to 30% each throughout the battles.

A lot of it I was by myself trying to find people, and was able to pick off other roamers. Some of it I was with large groups that made little ground, then retreated a lot. But through it all, I killed 31 people and died 3 times. I'd say that's a decent start and I'm loving mesmer in pvp. 1v1 anyone can win of course, but I think I'll win more than lose except against another mesmer or a thief. Thieves are nasty!

In full groups/zergs, with greatsword, mesmer really shine. Just gotta watch for AOE circles, and with superior range and high DPS a power/precision/condition build rules (assuming clones cause bleeding like in my build).

Solo PVE I'm not sure there's a faster way to kill mobs, even taking on 5 to 10 normal mobs at a time - or even throw a veteran or two in the mix. As for area DPS, elementalists rule but mobs move, so it's easier with a partner rather than solo. But I'm not expert on the ins and outs of elementalists. All I can go by is what I see, whether in a group with other classes, or aiding others in my adventures.

No offense to the original poster, but anyone saying mesmer is weak is simply wrong. Their real weakness as far as I'm concerned is a lack of movement speed - that's about it
