    Aggro Control with Glass Cannon?

    Hi guys,

Iīm lvl 34 Ranger and for the first time i got into a party to do Ascalon Catacombs story mode. I use a short bow (axe and horn for second) and i built totally glass cannon with tons of condition and power. It was a really nice experience but i realized i died a lot.

I didnīt die to melees because of cripples, dodges and whatever. But i died A LOT to casters and rangers. The king just 1 shot killed me many times.

My question here is: In this game am i suposed to control my aggro? Just slow down the damage so the mob wonīt go for me? Or i should do all damage i can as fast as possible and try to run like hell when mob go for me? Or even build some tankiness.

Thanks and sorry for the noob question.

imo you should build a more balanced build for dungeons, because of their level of difficulty. Throw in some toughness and/or vitality, but remember toughness > vitality, but everything in moderation.

Also look at traits that can reflect projectiles for those pesky casters. other than that, you just need to be more balanced since you cant control aggro in this game, with the "no trinity" there is no tank to hold aggro etc. therefore your best bet is to go survivability.

Yeah, glass cannon is actually a terrible build in this game. You can focus primarily on damaging stats, but if you ignore Vitality and Toughness entirely you'll be useless. You may have better damage output in pure numbers, but I bet you did less than those with more defensive stats because of all your time on the ground. Just a little bit of toughness even can go a long way.

The king is the final battle? If so, then it was YOUR FAULT and your PERSONAL FAULT alone that the king 1 shotted you. Granted, in my first time fighting him, he also 1shot me(engineer) a few times. But those are easily avoidable and the damage he does is mostly from those red circles that you can see on the floor. Dodge out of those! The 2nd time I fought that boss, I didn't die once. He didn't even damage me once for the whole duration of the fight. Granted, people from my pug kept dying, so you aren't alone. But still, personal failure.

Steel Singer, thatīs exactly what i thought. I never blame others if i suck. I usually played poorly. (athlete times teached me this)

My question was exactly what was the best way to get improve. Just dodge better? Add some toughness to the build?

You and the other guys helped me a lot. I will add some toughness and try to get better in the dinamic combat. I remember i was focused in being in the right place to apply my conditions but sometimes forgot to dodge the red circles. Noobiness. Next time will be better.

    Thanks guys

When you say ' i died a lot' whats a lot for you?
The first time our guild encountered the AC storymode dungeon the 5 man team died a collective total of 137 times..it got a whole lot easier doing it at lvl 65 with different armour, food, skills and knowledge though.

Do not meddle in the affairs of the Charr because, to them, you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Wow, that sounds like quite the troubled run, Toxical. What did the most damage to you guys? Or was it just being unused to working as a team in a tough encounter?

I agree and disagree - glass cannons can be very productive if you know what you're doing. Warrior is a good example. Guardian and thief as well. In dungeons I like having a bit of staying power though, no glass in my dungeon.

I went in AC story mode as a level 31 ranger and only died two (2) times ONLY because we had the most exellent team leader who gave us tactical instructions before every encounter and every trap. We beat the dungeon. 3 of the team members were level 80 , i guess with maxed out characters, as the bosses seemed to suffer a constant barrage of crippling conditions (they were frozen most of the time) I actually felt sorry for them at one point. (before getting one-hit kiled)

When I went in with random people who were trying to power their way through we got decimated and didn't make it.

Anyway, the reward I got was nothing special, maybe cause I didn't contribute as much.

If you dont have a good team leader , dont get frustrated with the dungeons, just max out your character first so you can stand a chance .

Don't be be too sure. Those red circles are way unreliable.
