The problem is, they just come back with another account. Somehow it seems to be profitable for them to buy a new account and farm gold as long as it lasts, sell it and make a new account. It's baffling that this would work, but somehow it does.

I even got an example for you: I have a retired WoW account that I haven't had activated since one month into Cataclysm. At some point during last winter, I got a mail that my account was banned because of gold advertising. I checked back with my battlenet account and really, some gold farmer had used 13 € of his own money to buy one month of game time, just to spam gold advertisments on some servers...weird, isn't it? That day I got the authenticator-app, even though I don't play anymore. Battlenet is a real shitfest. Have never been hacked the 5 years they didn't have that and since then twice...

Well it's certainly worth it for the gold-sellers if they're using hacked accounts, because that means they're not buying them. People need to wise up and stop buying. That's the only thing that will stop gold sellers.

I noticed the bots on EB are started to get smarter - they aren't always making keyboard smashing names, and some are actually putting their chars into guilds! I had to stare at one group in particular for about 5mins yesterday, because I was so unsure...but they did the classic things - Rangers with brown bears, healing at the same time, running in lines together, etc. So...I'm pretty sure they were bots, but I'm still not completely convinced.

I am very anti add-ons to game but one that would be great is an anti-bot bomb. You plant it amongst the bots and it would check for repetitive actions; on the fifth repeat of the same actions it would blow, instakilling everything within 100 meters. For live players, the bomb would be large and very distinctive so they could see it and get out of the area, unless they were feeling suicidal. Of course in some game areas, it'd probably look like Armageddon with all the bombs going off.

On a more serious note, botters, exploiters and hackers just plain suck, they are cheaters, plain and simple. Like most of you, I wish there was a much faster way to end their actions besides the current plodding of report and hope something happens, especially when they simply change accounts.

You could select their character and right click their potrait on the top of your screen. Choose Report, and you get to choose the nature of the report, and choose Botting, say the description like how'd you suspect that character to be a bot and press submit. Voila, done.

The Banhammer is being summoned and it will hit hard on the wicked.

I kind of doubt the hardness of the banhammer's hits. There have been a couple of botters in our WvW game farming the krait in the central lake. I suppose they've been reported a lot now; I know I've done so a couple of times; Of course, I don't wrote down their names, so it could be just new characters, but the problem sadly remains the same.

Only thing it has done so far is that they've switched over to our server.
Before that we could at least kill them, but now we rely on our enemies to do so.

I find the botting extremly hurting in WvW. When 30-40 spots are blocked by people that aren't contributing to the battle in any way that's very annoying. Especially when you're on a server that's struggling to get some organisation going in the first place...

I hope they'll eventually figure out a way to keep this cretins out for good.

Yes, but isn't it like this in every online game? You always have a percentage of dead wood for various reasons. It's probably best to ignore it as well as you can. The banhammer has to be careful as well as hitting hard, because the complaints about botting are NOTHING against the uproar that will commence once an innocent guy is hammered.

Agreed, but they can argue the fact, most bots won't argue. I just screenshot 30 or so naked bots getting wiped by a pack of bears, they just ran in and got wiped, it was a train of toons just running to their deaths, lol. But I believe a picture says a thousand words where a report button isn't proof.
