Is it possible to make a Guild Wars 2 account then connect to an existing GW1 account

I have 2 copies of the first Guild Wars. It has been years since I've last played it so I forgot the exact way the character names are spelled and one of the accounts had the Eye of the North expansion. I've recently bought Guild Wars 2 and I want to connect it to the one with the expansion but I don't know which one is which.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to make a Guild Wars 2 account on a new email then connect it to an existing one for when I find out which one has it?

You can link the 2, I have done it. I could not recall any of my information, so I had to search for old e-mail and contact NCSoft.
