The Hatchery... how to survive it?

Ok, personal story on my Sylvari thief, lvl 47. I get the the lvl 43 part called "The Hatchery".

How in the name of Bertie Bassett am I supposed to do this solo? If I stay still, Destroyer Crabs get me with their bubbling lava attack. I move, I end up activating more crabs, Trolls and Oozes and generally get wiped out. Seiran is less than useless and... I just don't see how its possible to kill all those enemies quick enough to do the objective...

This is the first time GW2 has made me rage so far. Help please!

Sorted it. I was using lvl40 weapons. Upgrading them to lvl45, I walked the section easily.

Seems that if you are even one level below the requirement for the area, you are at a huge disadvantage in GW2.

The stats seem to be rigged that way, and don't work as they're supposed to , is my opinion judging from what I've seen.

I believe the developers have tweaked the game to force you to constantly have to upgrade you weapons in the hope that at least some people will be lazy and just pay with cash for gems.

That you went from total failure to an easy win by just upping your weapons by 5 levels is telling.

The increase in stats you would get is too small to explain the difference.

Actually this has everything to do with downscaling. When you're downscaled you are expected to have roughly at level weapons and armor. See, it scales down your level, and it scales down your gear...but if your gear is lower it will simply get scaled down more.

@Ecolocon, this makes no sense at all. Weapons are so unbelievably cheap and easy to get while leveling, no one in their right mind would buy gems to buy them. Do you have any idea how cheap weapons are in this game even from merchants? A single dynamic event will generally get you a weapon at your level from merchants and that doesn't even take into account crafting or the marketplace, where you can often get cheap weapons.
