The shambles that is SPVP

I will hold my hands up and say the reason I expected it to be different is the fantastic job they did of selling it, and the general hype behind it which I totally bought into.

"A PVP focused game that will truely be balanced a lead a new era into PVP play" It was like a wet dream for someone who see's balance as a huge part. It just has not delievered for me.

I know many people feel the same way, but we still make up a very small % of the player base.

When they said it, I'm sure they expected to be able to finish it before release, but that didn't happen. Marketing always trumps development on release times. Eventually a game has to start making money and they didn't count on the late change to the way skills and traits were working. It came out of left field for a lot of them. So all the early balancing work went out the window and they hard to start over.

The potential is there. The game is solid as far as play goes...but yeah, it has issues. I mean, you know, the marketplace didn't work for a week, that should give you a clue.

MMOs simply cost too much to make for anyone to get everything they want in at launch. It's not possible. Every MMO launches with missing features, bugs, and what have yous.

The Rift launch was arguably the best MMO launch in recent memory and the world was pretty small and it was still missing a ton of stuff. And they had a security problem that caused a huge amount of hacking as a well as long queues to play on a number of servers. Rift was so imbalanced when it came out that they had to make serious adjustments to so many professions...nothing like we're seeing there. Every time I logged in, I got a free respec because it was changed to much to keep my old build. This went on for months.

In an ideal world, the game would have been perfected before launch, but it's simply not the way MMOs work.

And I know this may come as a real shock to people on this forum, but not everyone will be patient, not everyone is literally crawling out of Anet’s arse, and people do want change when they part with money.

I have a solution:

Drop the whip. You don't need to continue whipping yourself in the back while forcing the rest of us (this forum) to bare witness to your clear and present agony. Go play something else and come back when the features you want are introduced to a game. If you want hardcore PVP I suggest getting into EVE and joining a nullsec corporations. It's pretty much non-stop PVP out there.

Taking a break from GW2 isn't like taking a break from other games with a sub fee - imo, its not to be frowned upon its to be smiled upon. Taking time away from the game will only make you realize if you love the game or didn't enjoy it. If you loved it, you will sign on again and play, if you didn't enjoy it...well again, put the whip down man.

You need to look at the big picture. SPvP isn't the only part of the game that's missing features that have been promised to us. There is more going on in this game than your shallow "Waahh I can't pretend like I'm gonna be a professional gamer and say I'm comepetitive when I'm not gonna make a dime playing video games because there's no ranking system" nonsense.

Make a few GW2 videos and all of a sudden you are the authority on competitive Esport PVP?

No one here is claiming this but you. If you were some kind of pro competition gamer why aren't you playing something else right now and waiting for the eSports patches to take effect? (You know, like all the real "pros".)
