I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of checklist the mods go through with every single post, and if you fail any of the checks they press a large red button and a hidden trapdoor underneath your chair opens up and you fall into a pool of slime.
There is a red +1 button. If you agree with something, that is all they want you to use. Click +1 and STFU <--- Their opinion, not mine; I received at least 5 infractions for similar comments, even when I didn't entirely agree with the OP and offered a slight modification such as make this optional.

I was actually considering for a while there making a post on the official forums giving suggestions i would like to see be added into GW2. Simple little options to make things easier for the player/guild master. Such as, your idea of the last logged in option, also a way to aphebetcially or by level/location way to sort the guild list and also the ability to check the current status of map completion on a single map (as to not have to teleport to said map to check progress when trying to do world completion). Just little mostly unimportant stuff that would be cool.

But now i am kinda second thinking my idea to compile a list of suggestions. I wonder tho if im the starter of the topic instead of just someone agreeing if i might be able to slip undetected under the banhammer >.>

I just dont see how that post is any of what they are saying it is.... You were in agreement with the OP and i would have posted the same. Maybe they want everyone to post entire essays on why they agree or disagree with said topic?

    *sigh*

I've written an email to there actual forum team this time, I'll keep you updated.
Ouch! That does suck (I can be myself here, yay! ) You never know when the moderator ambushes and takes it upon themselves to decide what is "constructive" or not, and I thought the lemon bit was funny and therefore got something out of that post. It seems like the only thing Anet staff do on the official forums.

In the picture I'm simply replying to another poster, and giving constructive dye advice (works for leather at least, I'm not familiar with heavy armor).

I usually come to forums to either be helpful, social, or just chill. In fact, I'm even helpful and cool with people who have actively insulted me when I just take time away from the game, not hording secrets, and posts something constructive. The fact they have no off-topic should have been a dead giveaway.

The rules of conduct, none of which I or the OP have actually violated and even encourage people to abuse this kind of McCarthyism:

"All infraction reports from players are investigated, either through staff member observations or a review of game logs. Those who report a possible rules infraction by another player may be given general information on the outcome of their report, but certain details may remain confidential."

So one gets the impression that reporting gore, personal attacks, politically and religiously sensitive issues will be addressed. However, from what we see the infraction criteria is far too vague and subjective, you can report a post for not being "constructive" and if the mods agree with them they will infract an otherwise responsible and upstanding paying customer.

I suspect their method is half-automatic and half-manual, whereby they sometimes don't see if content really does have relevance to the topic or not. They may also do a Ctrl+F for keywords, and automatically give an infraction without looking at the context.

Part of the problem is people are used to posting their agreement, often without adding anything. That's not constructive, and it's what the +1 button is for to the right of each post.

But I think that only explains a tiny bit of what we've seen. I can't think anything that would excuse all of it. And I think that the +1 button thing should be really made more clear, because I didn't even realize it was there till I read about it here.

I would +1 that post if we had the button, Vayne.

Part of this specific issue is how buggy their forums are. For some reason, half the time my "quote post" button is gone lol. Sometimes it's magically there and functioning. It's weird.

Apparently there has been enough commotion about moderation on the GW 2 forums for Anet to post something about it. Here's part of what they said.

The infraction system is a simple system. Infractions that do not include points (known as zero-point infractions) serve as friendly reminders to follow the Code of Conduct you agreed to abide by when your account was created. Infractions with points are more serious and start a tally on your account. When that tally reaches a certain threshold of points, a suspension is given. Higher number plateaus result in suspensions of ever-increasing durations, eventually resulting in a permanent ban from the forums. With the exception of banned accounts, infraction points eventually expire.
You can find the entire post here.
