Lol first time I've been suspended. Usually I'm a rather quiet forumite there, and just update the elementalist bug compilation thread.

Wow! YOU got suspended Ruse? I can't believe they gave you an infraction for that. They are horrible over there. You had every right to post what you did.
I refuse to use the official forum. The way the moderators (official representatives of the game) treat people over there - I don't want to risk the chance that it may effect the way I feel about the game.

The fact that even Ruse can get suspended for her calm and constructive criticism, gives me less and less faith in the direction ArenaNet are heading in. If they go on like this, soon they won't have any of the original Guild Wars fans left.
Plenty of Guild Wars 1 players are still playing and enjoying the game. Not just a couple. Of course, there are also plenty of Guild Wars players that hate the game, for a number of reasons, particularly those who liked Guild vs. Guild PvP, or some of the other forms of PvP.
But like most games, there were casual Guild Wars players and hard core players. What percentage of Guild Wars players ever posted on a forum? I'd be interested to know.
Mara was a huge guild, and it had a lot of people in it. Pretty much everyone I know from Mara is still playing Guild Wars 2, and enjoying it. I'm thinking that some people that really think deeply about their gaming experience will feel betrayed and they'll leave, but I'm not sure that's a huge percentage of players.
It might, however, a decent sized group from this kind of forum.
Oh, I'm not saying that this particular update will chase them all away. I'm saying that eventually, the way ArenaNet is behaving towards its core fans, I don't think they will have many fans left.
Maybe so. And maybe they've made some new fans. Let's pretend you like MMOs, what else is out there. SWToR's free to play is looking to be a total joke. I can't believe they think it'll go over well. Lotro is pay to win and horribly grindy. Turbine is a hideous company for a lot of reasons. There's Rift, of course, but I've already sailed that ship and they charge a monthly fee.
This game isn't pay to win, it doesn't have the gear grind most of the other games have, and it's just fun. It's not perfect by any means. It has TONS of flaws. I mean a lot. And in spite of those flaws, there's not another MMO that can touch it from my point of view.
Maybe when Elder Scrolls comes out that will change, but I don't suspect it will. I have half an eye on Arch Age too, but I'm skeptical.
So if you like MMOs, where do you go now?
And remember, I'm a huge Guild Wars fan, as much as you are, and I'm not being chased away by this, even if I don't completely approve of it. And down the road, I could very well be chased away but it probably won't be till someone does it better.
I have a feeling that might take a while.
For me, the fun stopped when I reached level 80, had explored every zone and every dynamic event, had world completion, and suddenly came to realize that 90% of the world had become obsolete (unless you're in a guild and enjoy helping others complete that same content). There are no personal goals for the long term, nothing to keep playing for, unless you're prepared to get on the gear progression/endgame train that GW2 wasn't supposed to have.
As a single player game, this game is absolutely worth the money. But just like with most single player RPGs... right now there simply isn't any reason to keep playing once you've completed your single player playthrough.
Anyway, we're turning this thread about the moderators on the official forum into another discussion on gear progression, which was definitely not my intention, so I will withdraw from this thread again.
And for this amount of self moderation the jury is giving you a solid.... 9.8 *claps, cheers and some boos from the chinese fans who see their gold medal going down the drain*
Now, if Ruse gets suspended, I think the official GW2 mods need to enter the competition and moderate themselves. I thought their messages in those PMs were kinda rude. Don't you agree? Can you report those infraction messages? LOL
I hate the official forum, but that doesn't change my opinion of the game in the least. Nor the fact that I visit the official forum and post where and how I see fit, infractions be kittened!

I love GW2, don't get me wrong. I play it every day for several hours a day but ANet is going way overboard on the official forums. I don't read it anymore and I certainly don't post there.
