Thread: Where are all the other Professions?

Where are all the other Professions?

New to the game and playing a Human necromancer on Gandara server and upto level 12 all i have seen are rangers and warriors with the odd thief and Guardian ... Where are the other professions?
I asked someone and was told that since some nerf Necromancers are garbage so no one uses them.

Now, being new to the game, i have no clue what nerf he was on about but looking around seems i made a mistake rollong a necro Maybe time to roll a warrior hehe

    Any thoughts on this?

Are you enjoying your necro? If yes, stay with it, if not, look elsewhere. Warriors are popular because they're survivable, straightforward and have big burst. Rangers are popular because they can pewpew from range while a pet tanks.

Trying to FOTM in a game that's this new is just silly.

Then don't worry about it. Necros, like eles, have a lot of buggy traits n such right now, but a lot of people say things are broken just because they don't know what the hell they're doing, lol. If it's working for you, keep trucking imo. There's more to PvE than "killing fast" and necros bring plenty to a group.

I suspect part of it is that Warrior, Ranger and Guardian seem the most survivable if you're getting hit (not sure about thief as mine is still level 1 in the tutorial). My Elementalist dies much faster than the Warrior if I let anything get close and can't dodge their attacks, whereas they massacre everything in group events where I can hit the mobs with AoEs while they're beating on other people.

Necromancers are pretty awesome especially once you get a couple of skills unlocked. At 20 I take on groups of three and four level 22-24 mobs regularly. With smart use of wells, marks(from the staff), and the F1 ability Death Shroud enemies melt. Once the majority are dead I switch from the staff to dagger/warhorn and just melee the last one to death. Well necromancers are pretty awesome. And that's just one way to play them. You can go with a condition damage build, a pet build, or even something completely different and they can still be pretty awesome.

That said, my two 80s are a Warrior and a Ranger. I started the game with a Mesmer and got him to 37 before I realized I had no idea what I was doing on him and put him on the backburner. That's when I rolled the Ranger and got him to 80. I followed that up with a few levels on the Mesmer and still wasn't sure what I wanted to do so I rolled a Warrior and took him to 80. The Mesmer is nearing 50 and I just figured out how I want to play him most. I may still end up leveling my Necromancer first just because of how much fun he is.

All of the classes are fun, find one you like and stick with it or make one of each and play 'em all! That's the fun of having multiple character slots!

I have a thief and a warrior. I have not played a warrior in a long time, preferring the stealth class and after 3 weeks of solid RP, I find that I am fighting like a girl and dying a lot.

I use to do nothing but necro because it was a freaking beast, but between the BWE3 and release the brought the necro down a few pegs because people kept complaining about it killing them. Now I hardly touch my necro because I can't really do anything. I mean hey if you like it go for it.

This is geared to PvP and WvW.... for just PvE the necro is still amazing :P

I don't think I could play a Necro and have 5 or 6 pets and other assorted NPCs following me around all the time. Would be extremely annoying.
