No, they don't actually. Unless you hang out with dumb robots that do whatever a game tells them to do. I don't know anyone like that, except escapists. The rest just quits a game if they don't like it.
Oh and Sang Doré: My opinion is the most important thing in the world to me. And no Vayne can change that. But it doesn't have to be yours. Welcome to the culture of debating. It's confusing at first, I know...
Opinions are not worth jack all if one can't learn to live outside of one's own experience. ANYways, that's not an arguement for a video game forum, nor do I think any arguement is worth having with somebody whose own opinion is worth more to them than anything else, because, obviously, what would be the point :/
Why do I get the feeling that if I was leaving this game and said the same things as Shoke, it would have been 2 pages of "Cya, enjoy WoW". If thatIt's turned into a bit of a monster.
Well, having read almost all of this thread, (I did scan read a couple of posts) I admit I can understand Shokenaw's (hope I spelt that right) point of view although I don't have a level 80 character yet. I think that the title of this type of game points out one of its problems, its a MMORPG, massively multiplayer, it is trying to please everyone all of the time, and no game can do that. For me its a great game, I like the casual aspect of games, endgame for me is probably very different to endgame for others.
I also play WOW, (/hide under desk in shame) and have done since pre TBC, I have spent the last few years waiting for another game to come out that would draw me away from WOW, its getting old, its being dumbed down, its aimed at the hardcore raiders, the problems with it are legion, and I dearly hoped that GW2 would be that game. Its a wonderful game but I still find myself drawn back to WOW, I play them about equally at the moment. GW2 is still missing something, but I'm not entirely sure what.
I do know its not endgame that missing for me, I have never raided and I have only done one heroic dungeon, PVP has never caught me either, for me a game is about character development and what I can do for myself and the community. I like farming materials, I like crafting and being able to produce items that are worthwhile, I also like a challenge. I want to go out and have to fight for my life while farming, I want questing areas that are as challenging as dungeons but can be soloed, I want extra skills, including weapon skills so that I can work out what works for me (no cookie cutter builds for me, its trial and error). One of the best times I had in recent WOW was the Ironman Challenge, no magic item, no potions, and if you die, its over, that made life a challenge (and i might do a similar hardcore character in GW2) you really learn to be careful.
I would guess that we are all looking for our perfect game and in the hype of pre release we believed we had found it. A few weeks on and the 'oh, shiny' effect has warn off and we are starting to see the game as it really is, bugs and all, and at the end of the day we have to decide for ourselves if it is a game we can enjoy playing for all its faults or if it is time to put it on the shelf and look for the next new shiny game.
I think the reason this thread has gotten so big is because I WAS a violently FOR GW2 guy who changed his mind. I really think that many people are scared that I am right, or they are just outright agreeing with me like Lagger, Fey and others. There is something missing in GW2. Call it what you want, risk, personal accountability while in groups not to **** up, time invested vs reward. I really think a lot of this comes down to the general complacency of the majority of people, but I am not here to judge why they feel different than I do - its none of my business aside from creating a discussion with them.
Then there is Vayne.
For those of you who didn't know, I was in Vayne's guild on Tarnished Coast. This is the unofficial RP server which means many of the players have the same mind set as Vayne. Exploring, playing out a part in a characters story, going for a walk in the garden holding hands with your besty. I like RP/Immersion playing don't get me wrong. But it doesn't make EXCITING EMERGENT GAMEPLAY
The guild I was in has some great people and I am sure some of them would even agree with me and others that there is something missing others, like Vayne, wouldn't.
As for the Skyrim=/=GW2 argument? Sandbox vs Rollercoaster
Fear is the best control mechanism on this planet. Probably why this thread has brought all the boys (and gals) to the yard. Mmm Milkshake

If you have an opinion that you don't deem defending, it's not worth much of an opinion. But I guess each to his own. And opinions are always based on your own experience. Even if you learn information from someone else, that's how people form an opinion. The art of debating is to communicate to someone else and changing his opinion because of your arguments.
But I figure your approach is to say other people's opinions aren't worth anything, so they must be wrong and you're the only one with a valid viewpoint. And I guess you still haven't grasped what I said. Good thing you intervened in this debate, your constructive argumentation TOTALLY contributed to the debate. Was nice talking to you.
I feel for Garnished Toast, they're getting a lot of "special people" thanks to WvW transfers. Every server I've been on up until my current one has been ruined by those people. Maybe I don't use the Block feature enough.
And I just see you taking a break and waiting to see if they make the game any better for more serious gamers. I don't see the big deal. You were so excited I'm not surprised to see you burnt out.
^And get a room you two. Everyone has opinions but you don't have to like them or agree with them (or even pay attention to them). Welcome to life.

Same here, i think GW2 just lacks the incentive to level up and do things. I spend most of my time on GW2 roleplaying, but if that dies down, i don't think it'll be difficult to quit the game entirely.
GW2 is a good game, and more or less on par with WoW, but there is just something... i don't know.. not there.
