well some of the info i know of this
they gave a example of 2 people run up to a copper node and player a starts to gather it they get done and it disappears but player sees the same node and its still there and goes up and gathers too.

and as far as i seen the armor does have stats like +17 Agility +10 Perception +10 Strength (lvl 45ish armor) but your stats are already 400 - 520 depending on your build at lvl 45

the Crest, Mark, Talisman of Legion all look to be additional Upgrades to armor giving it special bonuses

Really wish I had a source for this...

But I remember reading that they intend on forcing players to get up and experience the world in order to craft. Unlike Vanguard where you can just sit there and craft all day without moving. I remember hearing about bosses/world drop crafting recipe's. Also that we will not be sitting there crafting the same items over and over to skill up. If i can find the source for this I will -- ive just read too many damn articles lol -- however from what I can tell their crafting system sounds the least developed. Arenanet might intend one thing but we may get another. Its a toss up until more info is released.

this basically sounds like or simular to the crafting system in Aion however i have not found any information that states they are going that way but rather Information that they are going a different way, or at the very least a quite dissimular way
~Eric Flannum: It wasn’t really our intent to be coy with the FAQ and avoid answering the question about whether or not there’s crafting in the game so let me start by saying that there is definitely crafting in the game. We’re still designing many of the specifics but players should expect crafting to enhance their adventuring experience and not be a system that tries to replace it. What I mean when I say that is that crafting will not be something players can engage in as a career without ever going out and slaying monsters and being a hero. We think that systems that allow players to do that can be a lot of fun but just aren’t right for what we’re doing in GW2. Expect a crafting system that has multiple crafting professions, discourages player conflict over resource nodes, no “throw away” crafting of items that you don’t care about, and generally works with and enhances all of the other game systems in GW2.~
~John Hargrove: Crafting will play a very large role in Guild Wars 2, and while weapons and armor will be a big part of the base of the items that players create, we are doing our best to ensure that players don't have to make a lot of anything that they can use only one of. For example, in Guild Wars 2 you will not have to craft the same sword 10-20 times just to level up your crafting skill. Hopefully our players will find that the only reasons they have to craft any given item more than once are because they can actually use it more than once, because they want to give it to a friend, or because they want to sell it for profit. With this goal in mind it does of course mean we have our work cut out for us when it comes to other interesting items to craft, and we have already spent a lot of time exploring in areas such as upgrade components that can be used to improve existing items beyond the condition that they were originally found or crafted in.~

Yup that was the article. Still, even from that we really do get a sense that there seems to be very little finished in terms of crafting. I think this may be one of those things we will have to wait for beta to understand.

Well, according to ANet you'll never have to make a bunch of an item you don't really need (and no one else does either, because they just grinded a bunch too) just to level up.

If you interested in crafting, the wiki article actually has quite a bit of info on it now.
