Thread: Suprise weapon change once I started PVP

Talking Suprise weapon change once I started PVP

Have been playing D/D S/B from the start, it seemed to be the best compliment to condition damage. I finally started PVPing however and I almost immediately started to disfavor them. I'm not naive, I knew it would be different, and as such I expected and even looked forward to adjusting my playstyle. With a fast pace environment though, I hate them, so I started to play around with some other options. I figured I would give the pistol a try... Man, I absolutely love it!!! P/D that is more specifically. I've also found that it really gives cloak and dagger a whole new spectrum of utility. With D/D conditions, I was really wasting the bulk of the skill, and mainly using it to cloak only. Having cloaking work in combination with a massive bleed damage bonus is sooo much fun to play around with. I only wish I would have discovered it before level 75...

I've Never tried p/d in spvp. However, I score top 3 in every spvp game with d/d sb and I don't use cloak and dagger. Aoe is king. I will try p/d.

I wasn't with daggers but now I am usually socring that with P/D. Yeah, I still view Death Blossom is an absolute monster skill except I was having trouble hiting a specific targets with it in PVP. People are usually rolling around allot and I noticed a good deal of misses. When it comes to inflicting bleeds a found the pistol to be extraordinarily more effective. But I like it for even more reasons now... Like I said, cloak and dagger isn't reallly useful to me with D/D unless you have traits in criticals so you can backstab hard.

I use the short bow 80% of the time for the aoe. Most of the time you are fighting multiples at points so I stay with bow. Daggers only when under 50% in a 1v1. I was not aware p/d gave you bleeds, but I recall the pistol skills show less damage than short bow when you hover mouse over them. I'll look it's been awhile.

That's interesting. It seems to me that most people use the short bow as a support weapon, but maybe that's just me. Yeah, I didn't notice pistol bleeds st first either. Vital Shot gives only one per shot, but when you're stealthed it gives an instant 5!! Better for specific targeting, but I still bust out my SB pretty frequently with groups and if I need to take a step back.

I use P/D a fair bit as well although I tend to prefer D/D as it drops people quicker.I find P/D great for survivability though and I drop far less. It's a catch 22 as both can be great.

This guys vids are epic for seeing some great P/D play.

Hmmm, i watched the first half of the video and the guy is using P/D not S/P. I used S/P half the time before the nerf but i found it harder to stay on target in spvp. Sometimes you got caught in the animation while swinging at air while daggers deathblossom and HS keep you on target.

Swinging at air was definitely not fun. That's why I rather go death blossom over pistol whip. Plus, DB is just cool as hell.

Nice! I was looking for a quality P/D video the other day at work. I just wanted to measure up a bit as I was having some skill choice issues. I absolutely love Shadow Refuge! But if I use it I definitely use Withdrawal instead of Hide in Shadows.. There's just no balance with both. In my experimentation, stunbreak is absolutely crucial against burst damage because it can be so devastating. Anyways, I keep alternating between 4 skills: HIS/Shadowstep and Withdrawal/SR.

It's interesting, I wonder if him being cloaked so often actually negates stunlocks enough to not use a break move. I'll definitely have to play around a bit more with it to see. But right now I'm not fully comfortable without having one. Regardless I'm starting to like Shadowstep more and more the longer I use it though. That return is sooo tricksy!! Especially for P/D.
