Open Letter to Those on the East Coast (or have relatives there)

Its rare that I can say numbers spook me into action but today might be one of those days. I've been on the water most of my life racing sailboats and to see storm surge as high as some areas of NYC and Connecticut are projected to get its kinda creepy.

I wish those in these affected areas the best, keep dry and lets hope you stay with power and heat.

Also if this doesn't put the fright in to halloween for you...

Not trying to scare anyone, just presenting the facts.

1st off thanks for the thoughts. Weathering out Sandy here in the DC area, and let me tell you its no joke.

Now I would never ever, ever have taken you for a sailboat racer, but then again its the internet so you never know Grew up racing sunfish, lasers, and lightning's and moved on the S2's in my early adult life. Now bus razing little one's up to be rail meat so I an at least get back to Wednesday night beer can racing at some point.

I raced Lasers and Laser 2's when I was younger, still own an L2. Health issues have kept me from racing these past few years but I am looking forward to next season.

This is pretty scary stuff, yeah. I hope New York and other large cities in the storm's path are doing all that's humanly possible, not just politically reasonable, to prepare for this storm.

16 nuclear reactors in the storm's path...yikes. I cannot imagine the consequences of all 16 reactors melting down at once. It disturbs me to read that despite the threat, none of them plan to power down.

Is it too soon for 2012 jokes? Because I was kind of hoping we were gonna get hit by a meteor.

Quite frankly I think there are many who have this in the back of their minds. I personally don't believe in the bullshit story about 2012 being some big death thing - I really try to be an optimist esp about life.

I don't believe it either. But it's kind of ominous how crazy this year has been, just in general.

I am in full agreement with that. This storm is...just crazy.

L2's are still my all time favorites. Put that sucker on a deep beam reach with a chute flying and I only wish I could control it in hurricane sandy winds (i joke..). My back has kept me off the boats for a few years now, but with a spinal fusion scheduled in a few weeks I am ever hopeful I can take the abuse again.
