Thread: Mac Release

    Mac Release

I know that the Beta is available for Mac, but has anyone seen any sort of estimate for a full game release yet? GW2 is a game that interests me and I have been hoping for a non WOW MMO on Mac for a long time, so I'm curious! If I were to buy the windows version just to be able to play the Mac Beta would I then have to buy a Mac version later on?? Guessing so but idk.

I don't think there is an ETA right now the on the full version of the Mac client, but the beta client does function as intended. The client is just designed to be compatible with Guild Wars 2, it isn't separate game. When you buy Guild Wars 2 you are also getting access to the Mac client for free.

So basically, there is only one 'version' of Guild Wars 2, but there is another client supplied to you for free so Mac users can also play.

Link to the client and info: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a...-for-mac-beta/

so if i buy the version of GW2 that is out right now i can play the mac beta? cause i cant run bootcamp on my mac i dont have access to a windows CD. so if i buy the GW2 client that is available right now i will be able to play the mac beta, and then once its released for mac i will be able to download the mac client free of charge. is that correct? cause if so ima buy GW2 right now and another question; will my character i play in the beta be transferable to the full game once the mac client is released?

The mac client is the beta, not the game, so yeah, your char will stay exactly where he is

Yes, exactly. Nothing changes in the game, only your compatibility with the game changes.

Bootcamp is not necessary or required. The Mac client should be native, just download and run it.

I play ALOT on my mac labtop. It runs okay and i cant play on too high of graphic obviously but i still can get stuff done!
You can run dunegons fine and farm karama and check the TP, just dont expect to do much more depending on your computer!

Sorry to be a pain, but to clarify... I can download right now and I will be able to use the Mac version without using any sort of Bootcamp or Windows situation? Just don't want to pay for the download if it isn't going to work. Thanks!

Yep, you can download right now and use the mac version. Basically you're not paying for the software, you're paying for access to the servers. Technically the software is free. If you buy the PC version you're entitled to the mac version. because you're really just buying access.

    The Mac Beta is great.

You don't need a separate purchase for the Mac version. Just download and go.

It runs really well, and I haven't noticed any issues.

    Cheers.
