There's something I want to buy off the TP, but I'm a bit short on funds right now. What's the fastest way for a level 80 (besides playing the TP, which I'm not savvy enough to do) to farm up some gold?

The bugged grenth event in cursed shore + lots of Magic find = fast money.

For the most part running around the 70-80 zones gathering everything you can will get you 1g in an hour maybe 2 depending on how savvy you are.

I make around 2g per day. 1g from selling mats and 1g from events/gear drops. (I WvW for events/drops mostly)

Another thing that will help is doing the dragons or other meta events that have chests. I believe their is a 3rd party site that keeps track of when dragons are up on what server so you can easily know when to jump over to the zone with a dragon. With a high magic find you will have a good chance at rares from the chests which can sometimes sell for 50s+ each.

I didn't say I only make 2g a day, I said I make around, sometimes I make a lot more, but its usually around 2g without trying. I also didn't say how long I play, which is 2-3 hours at most a day.

Thats more than I make...in WvW I make very little money but that's because I SPEND my money on siege, keep and supply camp upgrades...what I make I spend to enjoy the game. Im all geared out, so might as well spend it. I have 6g 50s to my name right now.

On my 80 toons I make coin hand over fist in WvW, I've been playing my Guardian (he's 23 now) the last couple of days in WvW and I just don't get as much coin or good drops on him, but its all good cause I'm having fun. I sometimes spent badges to get seige, but I've decided to save them up for the power/toughness/vit gear you can get with them for my guardian. Now I just rely on free siege from completion of the zones or as drops (i usually get at least one free seige drop a night from yaks, usually a ram or arrow cart)

I have 4 toons, each has 1-2g on them (my playing around money when I get over 2 I deposit 1 lol) and I have 12g in the bank, but I spend coin on stuff alot lol. Both my Mesmer and my Thief have full exotics and I just got the sexy duelist skins for my thief (those didn't actually cost that much though lol)

As others have said it's not hard to do certain chains of events that repeat constantly to make good coin, but repeating the samething over and over isn't really fun for me. I make coin without trying just by having fun I make plenty. Maybe one day I'll have enough to get Commander for WvW like half of Darkhaven world has, well not that many really, but we had 7 commanders in 1 zone last night at least we took over the whole zone for a bit though lol.

Depends a lot on the state of your server I think- how crowded it is, where the bots are etc.

Farming Mad King has been a great money source recently but ofc that's not a permanent thing. I usually head to Shelter's or Pentient gate in Cursed Shore, wait for either of those to spawn, then do Jofast or a bit of Historian Flia. Head over to Plinx, by the time you get to the Champ at the end of it, land a few hits to ensure gold then head back over to the gates to repeat the cycle. Do Grenth whenever it pops up. Always group up with people.

Using a Magic Find set, I sell all whites, blues and greens (used to salvage some but I have too many now, could sell or craft stuff). With rares I save them up and stick them in the Forge. Can make some nice gold like this but often get shit. If you need quick money I would either sell them straight up or salvage and sell the Ectos.
