2 good things came from that link.
1. No more Indiana Jones films. I loved the originals as a kid and was enjoying the Crystal Skull until the ridiculous ending.
2. The GIFs in the comments section
I don't think Star Wars 1-3 got anywhere near the same cult status as 4-6 did and sure Disney just wanna milk the fans...unfortunately i'm pretty sure most hardcore Star Wars fans outgrew disney many moons ago. Maybe they can reinvent it for the next gen of kids but would be surprised if what they come up with appeals to us oldies like the originals, but what do they care so long as we fall for their mass advertising and give them our money. I'm just glad Warner didn't get it as i despise that company. Does Lucasfilm hold any rights for SWOTR? no mention of it, but could probably do with someone totally new shaking it up
It's a trap!
I love how up in arms so many people are about this. To everyone that thinks they are going to ruin the franchise I have some news for you, they are atleast 3 films to late. Hell, I'd say it was ruined when george lucas ”fixed” the originals with all that goofy cgi crap.
His kids wanted nothing to do with this empire so leaving it to them after he dies would have been worse than selling it to Disney. imo
Disney owns more than people realize including Touchstone Pictures, ABC, A&E, ESPN, Hulu, Hyperian Books, a bunch of television and news studios, music studios, quite a few magazines, and the list goes on and on. Including quite a few large companies over seas.
It's kind of scary to think about how much that company owns, actually. People need to keep an eye on this, because it's quickly becoming a global superpower. "Oh, but it's Disney! It's such a sweet benevolent company." ...Yeah, don't buy that, not for a minute.
I just want to point out... Disney made my childhood pretty awesome. All the recent Marvel films, pretty awesome. Avengers, pretty awesome. Firing John Lasseter which pushed him to develop the technology for 3D computer animation which inevitably lead to every video game that we play today. Unintentionally, pretty awesome.
Star Wars can't get any worse than it already is. I really don't see this as a bad thing. Just a shock at how sudden it was.
