Anyone struggling to flip items on the Trading Post?
If you are struggling to flip items on the Trading Post, which is probably the easiest way to make gold in this game, then please hit me up with your questions!
Those that have had success, feel free to chime in with your stories.
What I do is this:
Place buy orders on items with good profit margins. Usually I will place up to 25 buy orders per item.
A "profit margin" is when the buy order is less than .85 * the selling price.
So if an item sells at 3 silver currently, but the buy order is 2 silver, then you do this:
3 silver * .85 = 2 Silver 55 Copper
3 silver - 2 silver 55 copper = 45 copper
So every time you "flip" this item (buy order is filled of 2 silver, then sell at current price of 3 silver), you will make 45 copper.
I do not usually consider 45 copper to be a good margin, but it is when you're first starting out and only have a gold to play with.
If you can find like 30 markets with these margins, then you're in business and ready to make your first gold in a night flipping on the trading post.
Some prices change on daily and weekly cycles, which is another great way to make gold with this strategy.

Maybe I'm missing something but didn't you do the math wrong? If you are buying an item for 2s, then it is going to cost you straight up 2s per item because there are no buying fees. Then when you list the items for 3s each, you will get back 85% of 3s per item. So 3s * .85 = 2.55s. So 2.55s revenue, subtract 2s from that as buying cost. 2.55s - 2s = .55s profit per item flipped.
