Kicking old players to the curb

Watching the events of Halloween and several of the jump puzzles in the game seems to indicate that A-Net is focusing in the new generation of new players casting aside older players to the curb.

It is sad but after trying time after time several jumping puzzles, the one in Halloween and seeing the way that effects are manipulated and the graphics and the costumes it seems very clear that we the old generation of players are little by little put aside on the curb so the garbage truck of time will carry us away.

    Im am 33,
It took me about 4 hours to complete the clock tower. It was challenging. I was frustrated. When I finally reached the top, I had a strong sense of accomplishement. I think players that are really into jumping puzzles wanted something that stepped the challenge up a notch. This is what we got. It didnt count toward the meta achievement so it was not mandatory.

Sure, not everyone will be able to beat it. Which will make it more satisfying for those who do. Isnt there another thread stating that there is no challenging content in this game?

Personally, I see no problem and hope anet creates more challenging content in the future.

Old people aren't the only ones failing.

Sorry to say this, but not Anet's problem. Mad king clock tower took me about a hour. I can do it with in 3 times now.

I struggled with it. It wasn't much fun for me dying a hundred times, so I gave up. Why do something that isn't fun when there are lots of other things that are fun? I LOVED the Mad King Dungeon. Must have repeated that one successfully about 20-30 times and got plenty of rewards.

Are you honestly blaming your age for your lack of skill?

So a scavenger hunt with clues is aimed towards a younger, more spry crowd? Finding pumpkins around the world? Older people have trouble with that?

How are the costumes aimed towards a younger crowd, at least any more than in other games?

They add countless things for this event, and you hone in on one to say Anet now gears everything for a younger crowd, and yet the one thing you hone in on is a time constrained, challenging jumping puzzle? One that even the younger crowd complains about being hard?

I find it somewhat annoying that people in general get mad in this game when everything isn't geared for them. "I love the dungeons, pvp, exploration, and leveling, but I don't like jumping puzzles so this game must not be geared for me anymore!" Anet is allowed to add things that certain players don't like, in fact it's kind of impossible not to. If you didn't like the clock tower, you don't have to do it.

Look I'd be much more sympathetic if that was the only halloween event, but the fact is that it was 1 of many, many events, so I don't get the complaint here...

Why are activities in the game that are geared for one group of people and not for others? We all paid money to play the game. There are several jumping puzzles that are completely undo-able by people like me where our sight and hand coordination are struggling. Why not to make these puzzles, that by the way what you get from the chest is pure crap, a little bit easier so everyone who paid for the game can complete them?

Many people complain that WoW was dumbed down, but the reason behind it was to allow those who lack the physical skills to be able to accomplish what others with better physical skills already had.

It is easy to make fun of old people because we lack the skills we once had, but remember this fair warning YOU NOT KITTING WAY ARE GOING TO REMAIN YOUNGER FOREVER.

I dont want a super easy jumping puzzle, but at least make the freaking thing doable somehow. I want to experience the rush of not falling-falling, but failing the same puzzle 100 times because the stupid area you need to jump is as thin as a human hair is stupid, or the squares where you jump disappear after few seconds is stupid, or like the mad king you cannot even stop to see where the hell you are jumping to is freaking stupid.

Cause then nothing is truly great, just ok for everyone. Not to mention it's impossible to please everyone. I'd think someone with a few years under their belt would know that...

Look you want a perfect level of challenge for the jumping puzzles. Unfortunately there is no objectively perfect level of difficulty. You say you don't want super easy jumping puzzles, but unfortunately what you might find just challenging enough, many others will find too easy.

Are you honestly expecting everything to be perfectly geared for every type of person and play style there is in this game?

Thinking you're entitled to see EVERY part of a game just because you bought it is nonsense. If you're finding something too challenging, either try and get better at it, or mark it down as something you just can't do. But don't ask that they shit all over it just to please you. And no, it's not your age........ unless you're 90, which i'm presuming you are not.
