Lol all this QQ about jumping puzzles makes me laugh.
Witches don't know 'bout Platforming Skills
LOL you all cracked me up. I am old so I get those rants moments after spending 3 freaking hours trying to figure out how to jump, lol
Jhn 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
I just skipped it. I hate jumping puzzles. I hate Vistas. I do the Vistas just so I can finish maps and get the chest. I'm a little bummed that I have to do a jumping puzzle for WvWPVP.
I don't mind them including them and me not being able to do them. There are certain accomplishments I want and others I don't care about. Achievements is not one of my major goals usually.
With that attitude, nothing would ever evolve, no progress would ever be made. See I don't really think of it as pumping out second rate content, or "If this isn't the best jumping physics/techniques/gameplay the world has ever seen, we shouldn't include it". I see it as "I used to enjoy trying to jump to difficult to reach places in my old mmo, but there was no achievement for it and they were always short and not designed for it". People argue that GW2's graphics aren't the best ever, or that no open world PvP makes a shitty game, or that the lack of raids is a let down. If other games have done this all better, GW2 shouldn't even exist?
Eventually we'll have real platforming in MMO's, and it shall be AWESOME.
If you watched the interview with the Lead Game designer or whatever..he said he gave up after 3 hours of trying. It was meant to be hard..
Toughen up![]()
I fully agree.
I think you miss-interpreted my response. The jumping puzzles in GW2 are glitchy as crap.We all know this.My point is they aren't really adding much to the game.Sure people who like them would disagree...."it's amazing progress, they are challenging, don't be so close-minded, harden up noob, yada, yada."
Thing is if GW2 released without the mechanic do you honestly think it would ever have been requested?Seriously....could you have ever have imagined even one thread titled along the lines of "GW2 would be awesome with jumping puzzles!!!".Have you ever seen a thread in any MMORPG that was titled "It would be great if this MMORPG had FPS mechanics".
Outside that people who dislike that mechanic are feeling excluded and over-saturated.As such the mechanic itself is fine, even if I hate it or it's not for me, but it's the implementation and execution at fault and being debated.Look at at games like Borderlands for example, they cross-genre but they don't do it at the exclusion of people who just want to shoot stuff for fun.
I'm all for a MMO that does everything.I just won't play it and I get where the OP was originally coming from in regards to the "jumping puzzle" mechanic. It's been a repeated theme even before the clock tower came out.
"If your having adventurer problems I feel bad for you son, I dodged 99 arrows till my knee took one"
So you only want games to have predictable mechanics, that if left out would have been something players could have thought of to demand?
You can complain about them being poorly done, but saying they shouldn't be there cause people wouldn't have brought it up on forums is a strange argument to make. I'd say the best added game mechanics are the ones people would have never thought to want, and yet when they had it loved them. If Halo was released without vehicles, nobody would have gotten on forums and complained about not having vehicles. Should those have been left out? What about the people who were bad at driving them, didn't they feel excluded cause they didn't have that skill set?
*edit* I can understand wanting man-power during development to go towards something you feel is more important though.
