Hi Nitiliak, welcome to this forum!
Don't worry... yes, you can download the game. Just follow the instructions to register your access key and create an account (https://register.guildwars2.com), then log in to that account (https://account.guildwars2.com), and you will find the download links (for both Windows and Mac) right there. Keep in mind that it's an approx. 16GB download, though...

So... I've downloaded the game client from the website and everything, but it's still not working. Whenever I click on GW2.exe (it's in my Appdata/local/temp folder) it doesn't do anything. This document popped up on my desktop:
App: Gw2.exe
Fatal error (3): Failed to commit memory from the OS (code 1455)
When: 11/2/2012 17:26:22
File: ..\..\..\Core\Platform\Windows\Exe\ExeMemFlexible. cpp(252)
Any help? I normally never use downloads, but install everything from a CD, so I'm lost...
By the way, I'm using Vista (not my choice, this computer was given to me ><)
Thank you

First: I recommend moving it out of your Temp folder. Create a dedicated folder for it... for example C:\Games\Guild Wars 2, put the GW2.exe (and, if they are present in the temp folder, GW2.dat and GW2.tmp as well) there, and run it from there.
Second: what exactly are the specs of your computer?

I tried moving GW2.exe, GW2.dat, and GW2.tmp to a folder on my desktop. I also tried moving the setup to that folder and running that from the folder. Now whenever I run GW2.exe, a screen pops up and says: Downloading 0KB (0KB/sec) and doesn't change. Honestly, I'm not sure if it'll even run but I figured I would at least give it a shot. But, like I said, I've never installed a game like this using a client from a website.
I'm not sure what you want exactly, but I'll put everything I know:
Vista Home Premium
Genuine Intel(R) CPU
2GB RAM, 60GB HDD
Not sure what the graphics card is. I doubt it's that great but I thought I'd at least be able to open it up =/
Thank you for your help, Centaur. I really do appreciate it. And I apologize for my incompetence ><

I fear that "Genuine Intel(R) CPU" doesn't tell me much. And 2GB RAM, 60GB HDD definitely isn't much, especially as the minimum requirements for this game already require 25GB of free HDD space. Are you sure you have that much empty space available on your HDD? And the error you get ("Failed to commit memory from the OS") sounds like you may have too little memory available for the installer. You could try closing all other programs that are running in the background, including your virus scanner etc, to free up extra memory. But if the rest of your computer does meet the minimum requirements, then it may be smarter to buy some extra memory for the computer... 2GB extra should already be enough.
But before you do that, I think it's smart to determine if the rest of your system does indeed meet the minimum requirements.
If you right-click on My Computer, select Properties, then click through to the Device Manager, you should be able to tell what CPU (under "Processors") and graphics card (under "Display adapters") you have.

I went to that "Can You Run It" website, and it determined that the only thing stopping me from playing it is my video card. I don't know how accurate that website is though. Yes, I'm sure I have that much empty space available on my HDD. I have 61GB free, and my HDD is 111GB.
For my CPU, all it says is "Genuine Intel(R) T2080 @1.73GHz" And it says nothing about my graphics card or Display adapters. I don't like Vista, I've never really used it, and I don't know how to work with it. Same with laptops in general. I'm a desktop guy.
As for freeing up memory, I'm definitely planning on doing that. However, as this computer was given to me, I have to know what the original owner wants to keep on it and what I can get rid of.
I have no illusions of being able to actually play the game right now. I was kinda hoping I'd be able to install it, see what I NEED to upgrade, and go from there. But for some reason, I can get the install screen, and it'll work just fine. But when I try to run GW2.exe after the install is finished, it goes right back to the install screen and won't go anywhere from there. I just assumed the issue was with the online client download... because Vista is horrible at things like that. I thought...
I've installed it on my step-mom's laptop from the CD and it worked perfectly. I was even able to play it for a couple minutes =D Amazing game. Anyway... Is it possible for me to just E-mail the files to myself and download the complete GW2.dat and GW2.exe from my E-mail, and run it that way? Avoid the online client download?
I just want to say though, Centaur, that you are amazing, and thank you for all your help and patience =)

Hmm... a laptop with an Intel T2080... then you'll most likely have one of those low budget graphics chips (some Intel Graphics chipset) onboard... meaning the game will most likely not run.
You should still be able to get a full install on that harddrive... you definitely have enough space. If you have an external USB harddisk or a large (~32GB) USB stick, then you could copy it from your step-mom's laptop onto this system... all you need is the 3 files I meantioned earlier. I'm not sure if trying to mail them to yourself would be a smart move, though, as the gw2.dat file will be around 16GB. Even a gmail account will probably have a problem with a file that large.
And you're welcome... after all, helping each other out is what forums like these are intended for, right?

I've tried E-mailing them, and there shouldn't be a problem. It's just gonna take some time to get them uploaded. But, there's only 2 files. GW2.dat and GW2.exe. Am I missing one? O.o
