Video Card Fan problem. Best way to go about it?

Ever since I cleaned out my computer fans the other day, the video card fan has been making noise. It is a three - four year old XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870, and the noise keeps getting worse. The card has not been suffering from overheating when I play Guild Wars 2. The fan does make it so I have to wear headphones so I am not driven crazy by the noise. It's not even constant. It just comes and goes. Sometimes the noise is loud and other times it's quiet. Like I said it's not overheating, and I have not had any problems with playing the game. It's just the noise.

I have watched videos of people taking the card apart to repair the fan, and honestly I am pretty intimidated with what it entails doing. I have a small background in computers, but I have never taken a video card apart.
I also do not have a lot of money right now, and I really can not replace this card with something equivalent to it. (All though I really do not care if it's only a 1 DVI, as I have not used the dual-monitor option on this card in years.)

    I have an Intel i3 2100 3.10GHz + 500W PSU +6GB RAM

What would you suggest I do?

Always hold the fans still when blowing them out or you can damage the bearing or bushing when they spin at high speed.

I used a toothpick to keep the fan still. My friend, who I originally asked why my fan was making the noise, said the same thing.
I am not really concerned about how or why the fan is making noise. I am more interested in fixing it.
If someone wants to tell me that taking apart a video card and cleaning/replacing the fan really isn't hard at all, or if they could recommend a video card under $100 that would allow me to play Guild Wars 2 well...that's more of what I am interested in hearing.
Or if there is a third or fourth or fifth option that I would be able to do for cheap...?
