    Hall of Monuments item question...

So I just checked my Hall of Monuments, and I've got 6 points which will give me the whole set of armor, but are its stats any good? Yeah, I could just wait and see, but I'm curious. Also, I notice some weapons are coming up, and in the few days I have left before my new computer arrives, I imagine I could pull a few extra points, so I'm wondering if any of these lower level things are worth it.

Being a 6 points currently, I imagine I may be able to run myself up to 11 over the weekend, which would get me the Gnarled Stick, the Living Shortbow, the Fiery Dragon Sword, and the Diamond Aegis... but doing so would take a bit of grind as I haven't really done much GWEN with my current GW account, so I would only want to do this if these items were worth it.

All the stuff in the HoM are just skins. They have no stats at all, so unless you like the looks, it's not worth it at all. Even the ranger pets share the same skills/stats as other pets in the game; they're just new skins.

Really?! That's lame... oh, well... I guess I don't have to worry about it then.

Personally found the heritage skins quite handy given the dearth of decent-looking gear at low levels (the default weapon models are terrible imo) - also saved a lot of transmute stones, especially at low levels. Still use the HoM dagger skins on my level 71 thief since they remind me of the Ungues of the Forgotten in Guild Wars 1.

Though the skins are supposed to be purely cosmetic, noticed that the fiery dragon sword was actually listed as doing fire damage - not sure if this is accurate or whether it actually makes any difference.

worth noting you don't need to use transmutation stones for them, very nice for low level chars, and they do count towards your transmutation achievement

Well that's cool... I'm glad I have the full set of armor, then.

My level 80 engineer and ranger are still using the fiery glove skin over exotic armor.

Yeah, and the Fiery Dragon Sword lights up dark areas, and does fire damage. Although I'm fairly sure the latter doesn't actually do anything, it certainly doesn't seem to kill ice golems faster, or light things on fire. The HoM skins look so much better than the pearl skins for weapons IMO, who wouldn't prefer the Fellblade to a giant mother of pearl butterknife?

Also the heavy heritage armor skins look so much better than the early heavy armors, you look awesome even at level 2. As for the others, it keeps you looking sharp instead of like a fool in motley garb. And I think the Heritage armor leggings for the heavy set looks better than 90% of the heavy leg armors out there. Of course, I play a male character and never understood the appeal of a heavy armor skirt or loincloth to armor designers.

Also if you have the bag space, the transmute skins stack, so you can carry around all the pieces of a heritage armor set for when anything new comes your way so you don't have to pop into the HoM for it. And I find that in dangerous locations the HoM itself is a great place to idle when you have to step away from the keyboard so you don't come back to your corpse.

Actually, you can just teleport to the mists, and then click on travel again to return to your previous location. It's just as safe and everyone can do it. Plus, if you then choose, you can go back to where you were, or take yourself to Lion's Arch for free.
