    Buying equipment

So, I just reached the heady heights of level 60 and thought I'd splash out on some new threads. I select the level range - 55-60 - and start looking for armour with nice vitality/toughness stats (for my Sylvari ranger). However, everything I looked at seemed to be piling attributes into power and precision.

Is that how it works? You can't get toughness and vit. unless you use an upgrade nugget or something? A

    What am I missing?

    Many thanks.

There's only one suit I know that you can get both vitality and toughness (thanks Zouron for that). It's found in Orr only and available for a lot of karma. You have to do a fairly horrible dynamic event chain to get the merchant for it to appear.

At some point, the "Hearty" prefix will no longer be available. You're then forced to 3-stat prefixes and the ones that combine tough and vit are available only at lvl 80 via karma or dungeon tokens.

When I'm leveling I buy all of my gear from the WvW equipment exchange. There is a new set each 5 levels after level 10 and the stats are Power/Toughness/Vitality. It costs a bit of karma for each set so make sure you're doing lots of DEs and you'll be able to grab each set with no issues.

Interesting! I'm still figuring out this game so could you be more specific on how I find this WvW equipment exchange? Thanks a lot!

Each one is in a slightly different spot but they're all right next to the starting area. It'll be in between the Guild Armorer and Weaponsmith probably in one of the little hut things. In our home borderlands it's straight back from the spawn in a big circular building.

Here you go, this is what one of the little buggers look like.

You can also look here to see what spreads are available at what level (and where) for future reference.

lol I feel like the only person who doesn't care about 1-79 gear pieces. I never upgraded anything on any of my characters, I use what I find and save all my monies and then gear up at 80 without spending money. I likes my shiny coins.

Must be the pirate in me.

I'm with you on this. If you aren't really unlucky with your random drops you should be able to dress in blue for approximately your level anyway. And it isn't that important in PVE questing. I never upgraded my items unless I found some shiny diamond and I also hit lvl 80 with a lvl 26 green ring...

But then I had 150k karma and enough gold to get exotic in each slot except trinkets quite immediately.
But some people like equipping their toons. And I'm always excited as hell once I find something better. But Other than weapons I didn't really buy anything while levelling. Especially not focussed on specific stats. I always figured more stats=better, regardless which ones they were. Because while levelling you could really find something new every few levels, so I didn't bother hunting for specific things.
