Reclaiming Starter Gear?

Why can we not reclaim/buy our starter gear? Like the Necro Masks, the Guardian shoulders that we choose in character creation.
Can we and am I just unaware?

The gear that you start off is predetermined for you... every person of the same profession basically starts off with the same gear. After that, you can buy whatever gear you want and switch to that.

And if you want to keep the looks (skin) of the necro masks or the guardian shoulders that you started off with, you can use one of the transmutation stones (you get them for completing the daily challenges or for completing a zone) and merge the looks of your starter gear with the stats of the other gear that you obtained lateron.

Aye, but the point is we should be able to purchase or claim the skin so we CAN transmute it. When I first made my necromancer I didn't really consider wanting to keep the skin, or that it wouldn't be available to me ever again.

Like most armor in the game, head pieces are soul bound, not account bound, so this won't work, unfortunately.

Once you've deleted or sold your starter gear there's no way to get it back. So remember to keep that stuff when you start if you want to transmute it later.

As far as I know you should be able to:
1) Create a new character with the starter gear you want
2) Use a transmutation stone to transfer the look to a cheap piece of gear
3) Transfer that gear to the character you want to use it.

You can do this with the order gear for sure, because that's how I got Vigil gear on my ele (who is Order of Whispers).

At least for the orders armor, it SAID it was soulbound when I put it in my bank but I was able to equip it on another character. Probably not "working as intended" but I hate being shut out of cosmetic options so I use it shamelessly. :B

I just tested this with a starter mask. I made a new necro, put his mask in the bank and tried to take it out on both a mesmer and a necro. I can put it in the chest, but I can't pull it out into the inventory of another character. So with starter objects, this won't work, unfortunately.
