Thread: White/Black Dye alternatives?

    White/Black Dye alternatives?

Just made the rascal armour for my Thief (which i think looks amazing) but after 60-80 hours of play i have never recieved a black or white dye as loot from any loot drop
And i refuse to pay 3+ gold for a black or white dye from the trade post (im poor) so, are there any cheaper alternative dyes for black or white?
    Maybe Stone or ice white?

You can buy unidentified dyes in large quantities for a lot cheaper but obviously you only have a chance of getting the dyes you want.
I've got celestial twice through that way though. If you buy like 100 then sell all the ones you dont want, sometimes you can even make a profit

At least on metal, Icing is a nice alternative to white imo. You can also go with any of the Midnight ______ colours. They're very dark.

I like illumination and redemption together. Illumination is a shiny gold while redemption is a darker orangy gold. I can attest that icing looks alright on leather too.

I recently got my hands on White Gold. That's become my new replacement for White until I find a better. On cloth armor it's as close to white as I've gotten so far.

I like this colour a lot too, not as a "white replacement" but just on its own merits.

Iron is a great black replacement. I have it on my Thief, and it looks like lovingly worn black leather.

I find that on higher level gear some of the more common dyes look like white and black. The lower level gear often times it doesn't look very good though. You'll have to definitely experiment as different sets and different skins look MUCH differently even with the same dye color.

What dyes I use as a replacement for white and black is Blue Ice *as white* and Midnight Fire *as black*. I have both Black Dye and Midnight Fire and on some gear the Midnight Fire actually looks darker and cooler than the Black. On much of the gear the Black actually looks like dark gray. But then again, on some of the gear the Midnight Fire looks like "rust" (on other gear it looks like deep dark black). So, as I said you'll have to experiment with different sets and gear.

Strangely, in this game, the darkest dye isn't Black, but Abyss. And the whitest white isn't White Dye, but Celestial.

    Anyway, I hope that helps.
