It is a ridiculous issue in itself as well as the fact Arenanet is losing the battle against it. My guess is they are making a killing just banning them and letting them buy another copy of the game.

haha love the pun there
But think about how many GMs they would have to have on duty 24 hours a day in each zone in each server. That would be ALOT of employees. Sure in a perfect world they would be able to handle this kind of man power and handle every bot situation immediately and with ease, but realisticlly its just not possible. This is why we all have to work together to try to be on top of reporting every bot we can while we are out exploring Tyria. With the reports they have something to focus on. Not so much guards stationed in every map on every server
I've seen the armies of bots before in different areas and PvE on Darkhaven, and reported the best I could, but a couple nights ago I encountered a new type of bot (or an extremly stupid person) in WvW. This bot I can only guess was set up to build seige. It would run to a supply camp grab supply run to the keep build and run back. After I killed it twice and it came back I followed and watched it do this several times. It never attacked me or made any attempts to run faster or anything. Finally I soloed the supply camp it was getting supply from and it came back again and was killed by the guards respawned and came back. Just thought I would share as like I said either a bot or a really dumb person.
Bot problems? Hmm... I play on Darkhaven and haven't seen any bots. Either that, or I'm just not paying attention ^.^ Thanks for the heads up though. I'll definitely start looking more >=)
The bots have evolved now they are using regular names and no fghjcx type of names, usually they are dressed the same way and use the same skills.
Jhn 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
If your server's got botting problems I feel bad for you son. I reported 99 botters, now I don't see 1.
On a total different issue about a large group of players having the same/similar names. Just recently I too notice a large number of players as a group have the same and similar names. On that encounter though they all acted different and independent of the other. From that I got the idea that they belong to the same guild and they are preparing for competitive GW2 game play among different groups of GW2 guilds.
If you are a decade long gamer as I suspect you. You should know similar ID/names in amongst a fighting group provide advantages in clan war or guild battles. Yea, I do believe people are gearing up and training for tourney and world versus world.
That of cause is totally different from your identifying bots.
Edit: from pass experiences it has a formidable averse effect on your opponent's mind over time. They make your opponent go into rage/rant who had tried to keep track of who is who. Well, your opponent usual goes into a similar state that you are showing - paranoia. - and it is a deliberate side effect.

Aww man! I was trying to think of something like that, but couldn't be that creative >< Touché

Woah... that actually works? In PvP, I just swing my sword and hope for the best! Not caring who I cut down, as long as someone other than me is dead in the end ^.^
...Which is probably why I'm horrible at PvP ><
I'd also like to point out about Mesmer clones. At first, I thought there were 4 bots killing things. Then they exploded and and 1 was left =) I'm sure you all know the difference between a bot and a clone, I'm just saying...
