I think that is a relevant point to both OP first post and my post. Reason being the clones of the Mesner that we have all experienced before takes only a moment or two to distinguished its' slight transparency. Now though after the recent last patch, I found Mesner clones have been given solidity without any transparency at all until the last moment when they expired when they are given back their original slight transparency. So yes, what I saw a couple of days ago could well be a Mesner spamming clones.

Anyway, in GW2 tourney and WvW, all participants have their ID/names taken away and in their place are given the same generic server world names they belong to. It is possible but unlikely Anet will do something they have never done before and let competitors keep their unique names for all to see during actual competitive fights.

From that I got the idea that they belong to the same guild and they are preparing for competitive GW2 game play among different groups of GW2 guilds.

If you are a decade long gamer as I suspect you. You should know similar ID/names in amongst a fighting group provide advantages in clan war or guild battles. Yea, I do believe people are gearing up and training for tourney and world versus world.

That of cause is totally different from your identifying bots.

Edit: from pass experiences it has a formidable averse effect on your opponent's mind over time. They make your opponent go into rage/rant who had tried to keep track of who is who. Well, your opponent usual goes into a similar state that you are showing - paranoia. - and it is a deliberate side effect.
A couple of friends of mine and I are also doing this. I even started rolling a mesmer with the same name just to confuse things even more. The only difference in our names is a couple if alt letters. So before you instantly report players running around together with similar names take a minute to watch them or even ask them if they are bots.

I've still never seen a bot in this game. Unless you mean the spammers in map chat and in emails... but I've never seen the groups of people running together.

Training mobs on bots is effective sometimes, but others there simply aren't enough mobs to pull on them =(

I saw an interesting bot the other day in Frostsound Gorge. There was 4 of them on a ledge on a cliff, one would attack a Dovrak, the Dovrak would one shot him as he was naked and in a massive downed state, then the other 3 bots would rez him and they just kept repeating this over and over. They were all in a guild, the only thing I can imagine they were going for was the rez achievement.

Well, rezzing does give you experience every time, so it would be a way to level up...

I hope you reported all four of them?

Yep. They were all lv80, so it wasn't for the exp. Was really weird, but someone had obviously put some thought into it as they were in a secluded place that was perfectly setup to do it. Only noticed it because the downed play symbol keep flashing up on my map as I was farming nodes.

The naked bots that keep dying drive me nuts, lol. I have an urge to res everyone I see, and then when I see it's just a bot...*sigh*

Now everyone is complaining that prices are rising because bots are gone. Yeah the scales are tipping towards suppliers' favor and away from the buyer, but the buyer can also become a supplier and make money too. Since vendor prices are fixed inflation is actually good in games since you could gather resources and sell them and reduce the time it takes to buy certain items. True, those on the TP will remain inflated, but things like icy runestones, waypoint travel, and salvage kits will become less expensive as they aren't adjusted for inflation.
