Thread: Dynamic Events for Dailies

    Dynamic Events for Dailies

I've seen a couple of these threads on various forums.... some people are just having trouble getting dynamic events for leveling but also getting them in an efficient amount of time for the daily.

Saying things like "just walk around" , "go to low level zones" , "don't just go to hearts" etc... DOES.NOT.HELP.

Saying something like " Talk to [Joe Pirate] west of XYZ waypoint in the ABC zone. He will start a chain of 4 events that is over in xx minutes." THAT.IS.HELPFUL.

Why do these things help over the first examples? Because some of us aren't kids or in college. We don't have boat loads of time to pump into a game. Some people have careers, wives, husbands, kids, and other stuff that we like to do. At the end of a week, we may have had only 2-4 days with about an hour or so for each of those days to play this game. The daily achievement is awesome in my opinion. It allows people in this kind of situation to get the most xp from their time.

The problem is that the events can be pretty hit or miss. I spent over an hour trying to get all 5 events completed. And I missed 3 events that were right in front of me after teleporting into a waypoint because I couldn't run fast enough to tap the mob. ENRAGING! lol. But seriously, I hit up a couple of zones and asked in map chat if there were any events giong on and for people to link the waypoints, and didn't get a whole lot of feedback.

Perhaps we can use this thread as a competition. Reply with your path for completing 5 events (preferrably that you started to alleviate any variation with luck and just walking upon an event chain) and the time that it took to complete. Include all NPCS that you needed to talk to, directions, waypoints, zone/area, all that jazz.

Hopefully we can keep the generic and thus useless comments to a minimum and this will help out a bunch of people .

Example of a good reply from another forum:

I do sparkfly every day for my dailies, run outer ring for the 15 types and then the headlands camp for the 5 events and 20 harvests. I’ve got it down to a 30min window for my dailies and then im off to other zones nice and quick. Also has the added bonus of having lots of verdant herb patches to give vanilla and a big, fat solo’able dragon who gives high lvl yellows if you have the RNG magic luck. You just have to find a place that you like and set up a route. There are 4 events round the middle camp and by the time you finish them one will already be resetting.

You're right that there are quite a few events that are player triggered. If you're going for the dailies, then those are the easiest to find. Especially the escort ones are almost always player triggered. Based on my exploring, I can tell you that on average there are at least 50 different events in every zone, so I'm not going to tell you to "talk to [Joe Pirate]". There are just too many options.

My recommendation would be: check the wiki for the zone that you're currently in, and if you run into events that aren't on there yet, add them. In the long run, that will be a lot more helpful than a couple of events listed in this thread.

You don't have to list every NPC that will trigger an event....although a comprehensive list across all zones would be cool. So if you know of a link where this is done, please link it.

However, listing 2 or 3 NPCs specifically because you know that event only takes x minutes and is right next to y waypoint is extremely valuable for people without a lot of time and looking for efficiency.

Efficiency is the key, and naming specific things (not mass listing) is how to make this happen.

Well, what I do (i'm level 80 though) is I use WvWvW and Orr to get my daily done. Half in one area and half in the other. Done very fast that way. Events are easy to get done in those two locations.

First of all, and this is to everyone asking everything to be handed to them and making me want to avoid posting, stop being lazy.

You don't have the time to just walk around and do 5 of the nearest events wherever you are? That would probably be the quickest way. Events are everywhere I can't walk 5 feet usually without running into a couple. And since you missed Centaur's link showing all of the events I'll leave you a new, more obvious one.

    http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorable_zone

If you go to that page and click on any zone there is a list of known dynamic and meta events. If you want my opinion just go to Penitent Path in Cursed Shore and do the circle of repeating events. They're always running, finish quickly, and give good XP, money, loot, karma, etc.

And there are very few examples of what you named. The events that start by talking to someone are usually the result of another event, so the NPC you head to talk to one day may not be there the next.

This makes a lot of sense at 80. Could help grind out karma. But for leveling purposes, especially for alts, do you think that the WvWvW is viable? Any particular strategy that you think would work best?

The best thing to do on alts is get in a small group and go flip supply camps and sentry points for XP and karma. You can also take undefended towers or join up with a larger group or commander to siege or defend other encampments. Just make sure you're always contributing to some kind of event and you'll level extremely quickly.

Also know when to run away and regroup instead of dying or wiping, and keep an eye on the map to see new weak points to hit for XP and avoid large enemy groups unless you have some control and can force them into a choke point.

Sometimes walking 5 feet will get you to a couple of events. However, sometimes it won't. I spent over an hour trying to find events on multiple nights. That includes asking in map chat.

Grown adults with lives and not a lot of time don't necessarily have time for this and just want to know the most efficient way of completing the daily requirements. You probably level faster by getting a group together, going through content and dynamic events for a few hours....which is cool if you know enough people to group with and have a few hours to dedicate. But if you don't, well, then you're left with looking for the next best thing....which is what we're trying to get at in this thread.

Maybe certain grown adults with lives should learn to manage their time better so they aren't trying to cram every practical second into time when they're supposed to be relaxing. If you really don't have the time to play maybe work on other priorities until you can find time. I for one have a job that takes countless hours each day crunching numbers, reviewing repetitive paperwork and lines of code, meetings, bureaucracy, "the works". And then I find plenty of time for my family (maybe I could find more) and still make room to play GW2 for multiple hours a night. I realize not everyone can find the same amount of time, and there are exceptions and nights when I don't play, but I really don't see anyone actively looking for an event for over an hour and not finding one. I just don't believe you.

Maybe if you had 30 minutes to play and for some reason HAD to get the daily every day, and then like I said before I'd just do the constantly running events near Penitent Path in Cursed Shore but even that'd be a rush and I don't think it'd be much fun. Why do you feel the need to complete the dailys every day in the first place? I guess that doesn't matter but I don't see how it's the most efficient way to get XP or why you even need XP at 80. Why not just take your time to explore and enjoy the game for what it is?

^^ This haha. I love that answer.

It just seems the OP is holding onto this crutch that people with other priorities outside of gaming can't do the daily achievements without a walkthrough guide... That's pretty lame if you ask me. I have a job. I have kids and one of which has special needs. I have a family and an ex wife. I have shit happening outside of the game. Yet with all this, I still have time to play GW2 and figure out how to accomplish my daily achievement.

Oh and guess what. When I don't have time to finish it, I just shrug my shoulders and log off and say to myself "there is always a new day tomorrow with the exact same rewards"
