Thread: You can dress the monkey in silk and still will remain a monkey

You can dress the monkey in silk and still will remain a monkey

One of the goals of GW2 was to avoid the elitism of games like WoW when running dungeons. Guess what GW2 failed at that, here is a small example of what is permeating the game

    https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...fore-last-boss

    "

So I’m not sure where this goes, but I thought I might as well post it here.

I have been kicked out of a party few moments before the last boss died, we were running CoF Path 2, and during the last boss where you need to kill 4 acolytes one of the warriors took forever to kill his mob which made the fight much longer, so I asked the warrior “Are you lacking gear or something?” and then they kicked me.

I got the names, but the report option in this game is freaking useless. I don’t care about those 50 minutes (yeah, terrible group), but I don’t wanna think that people can pull that kind of kitten and get away with it. The report option in game offers no way to explain what happened, and I doubt something will happen as a result.

Is there anything that can be done so that players cant do whatever they feel like? I know Anet said they’re banning players who do that kind of stuff, but how the hell am I supposed to report it? Basically would just like to know what can Anet do about it, assuming they actually handle that kind of stuff."

    and some responses

"When playing with a PuG always let everyone ping his/her weapons, armor and jewels. Kick directly if not specced for damage or lacking lvl 80 exotics. Root out the problem at the source. CoF path 2 shouldn’t take 50 minutes."

Elitism seems good and alive and growing up.

You're runing with PUGs. RANGOM people...AN can't control who plays their game. They can design the game where elitism is pointless and not encouraged. What would you like AN to do different to stop this behavior? If you have a suggestion, please share it.

Make friends, join a guild, etc...when you run with randoms, you will sometimes run into issues. Specced for damage is just funny and shows that these people don't know what they're talking about. Why do YOU want to run with them?

As far as last minute kick, report and move on.

The person was kicked out of the group for being a tool, not because of anyone be elitist. I don't see how the title of this thread makes any sense.

The person kicked is the elitist criticizing others because they didnt kill the mob fast enough for his almighty elitist

I didn't see the link (read the OP more carefully the next time) and thought it was you posting that. Guy was an elitist, got kicked. I'm not sure what the issue is here. OMG some guy in the game is an elitist. Ok....

First, when I read something like that OP's post, I always wonder if their behavior was really as harmless as it sounded. Possibly they didn't say "Are you lacking gear or something?” but "Hey shithead, you're fucking useless to the party. Get yourself some better gear before ruining other people's time!" and was kicked from the party because of that disrespectful behavior.

Second, we're dealing with human beings here. As bokiz also pointed out, you can create a game so that elitism isn't encouraged, but you can't ever present people from behaving like assholes. The only way to avoid ever running into any situations like these, is to only play single player games.

Simple point. You can't just arbitrarily kick a member of your party. You have to put it up to be kicked, and other party members have to agree. So it was more than one that said "Do it".

Well if RIFT taught me anything it's that if you initiate a kick most of the time (especially when playing with randoms) people will just agree with you for no real reason and kick the person. Ah, the random vote kick madness that was Instant Adventures.

I am not completely sure but i am quite certain given the name (Ruberia) and the description of what happened..that i was actually in the group mentioned on a COF path2 run at the final boss.

..but was not involved in any of the talk or actions..
but i seem to remember there had been a touch of friction prior to the final act of kicking...

No-one talks to necros....if they know what good for them.

Do not meddle in the affairs of the Charr because, to them, you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I knew that there was more in this plate than what the waiter said.
