There is a way you can enter a description of what has happened, but not through the report player option. Open up the menu and you have the support selection. There you can submit a bug report and you have options in drop down menus there to select what part of the game and also to enter a description.

I only use this to report players who are using hacks in WvW (teleport or speed or jump hacks) I select the player and do a normal report on them and also take a screen shot/s of him best I can using the hack and attach them to the report (there is an option, as well as an auto-screenshot attachment option) and enter my description of what happend / what the guy was using and also mention I did a normal player report at such and such time so hopefully they can look that up and clearly identify who it was. Of course since bans aren't discussed with anyone outside the person being banned no way to know if this method works or not, but its certainly better than posting it in a forum.

I'm really confused. Weren't you the one who asked someone if they had inferior gear because they took longer yet everyone but you is an elitist?

He got his job done eventually, so it wasn't in your ideal time frame, so what, help him out. 'His mob' dungeons are supposed to be team efforts, to do them you need to kill the mobs so its everyone's mob, not just his.

We can't know exactly what the OP in the other thread (that was quote in the OP here) actually said or did to get kicked out, but based on what he's claiming there, I can't see how he's an elitist. Asking someone if they have proper gear isn't being elitist at all... its asking as simple question based on the observation that the Warrior was taking longer than normal to do something... now, the comment in the OP where the guy says "yeah, terrible group" may indicate elitism, but its not always.

I'm reminded of a Raid run I did in DCUO while pugging FOS1... I had done it numerous times before, both pugging and with my League (i.e. Guild), but this time I was just a last minute healer addition that responded to a shout, anyway! Everything was going fin until we got to the mid way point.

This point had a couple of different strategies I'd seen used, all of which worked, but these guys were directing a really odd one before pulling. I didn't say anything, I was just pugging with some dudes and like I said, various ways to take this had worked every time, so I just did as I was told. After 3 failed attempts to pass this particular section of the raid, I spoke up to the other Healer suggesting a new strategy for the two of us, and she was fine with it, and it improved out performance... however, we still failed. After 2 more failures, I decided to try to get everyone to do what my League usually did... all but two DPS players followed what I said and we all did better, but those two DPS doing their own thing got the other healer killed, and while I tried my best, I couldn't keep everyone alive, especially once our Controllers dropped and I was out of power. The next time, I said we should try it again with everyone doing their part, but the two DPS ignored it yet again, and in order to adjust, most everyone else moved out of the strategy and we all died again. The next time they wanted to do the first strategy again, which had proven to fail, but I went along with it quietly, realizing at this point that no one cared what I thought since I was a pug. After two more failures, racking up the time to a ridiculous 90+ minutes (its a 40 minute raid), I finally just left.

I then got a PM from one of the DPSs calling me an elitist @$$hole, to which I sent no response. I've never considered myself an elitist, and everything I did in that raid was trying to help, but after 90 minutes of failure, I wasn't going to waste any more time and money on it (repairs cost a lot to free players in DCUO, and each death does massive damage to your gear)... so yeah... thats just what this made me think of.

I mean, is it really elitist to ask if someone is geared, or to give them advice? I mean, if you're being douchey about it, sure... but the way that OP claims the events occurred, I'm sorry, but that wasn't elitism. You want elitism? Go play Call of Duty. You'll hear what true elitism sounds like, especially if you're on the winning team and the losers have mics. It gets ridiculous.

Umm... the warrior was likely to be geared and specced for tanking, but support tanks need loot drops too! That's another fail that Anet put into the game... only DPS gets to have loot =(

One of the goals of GW2 was to avoid the elitism of games like WoW when running dungeons. Guess what GW2 failed at that, here is a small example of what is permeating the game

But Dude seriously. Why are you still playing videogames? Not only do you not understand the fundamentals of the game. But apparently you don't understand gamers as a community or gaming itself as a culture. You're always complaining and whining, you clearly are not enjoying how the game has turned out.

I think you need to stop and ask yourself "why I do log in?"

I don't remember ArenaNet ever saying it was their mission to stop elitism with GW2. I mean come on, they're pushing for E-Sports. They removed gear brackets from the equation and made everything easily accessible to all players. To compensate for the lack of gear progression they increased the learning curve of the game itself and the skill cap to play it on the highest level (which btw, Gear is what makes a bad player better than they normally would be in RPG's, particularly MMO's).

Which means that because the game requires more skill, bad players are easier to point out since they have no amazing gear to help them be better and they have to know what they're doing even more so. They removed the trinity from PvE but again, compensated with making the difficulty of dungeons and other group content higher since you have to rely less on gear and more on your own ability to play.


ANY GAME THAT SETS ITSELF UP TO BE COMPETITIVE AND OR SKILL BASED, is going to have MORE elitism than a game where you can get carried to get good gear and then be decent at said game.

Yet there are no server firsts in Guild Wars 2, and there isn't any gear grind. There's no node stealing or kill stealing. In fact, the PVe game isn't set up to be competitive, at all. PvP is. So carebears like me can enjoy our game with less elitism than other games.

Games that have server firsts have competition even in PVe, but Guild Wars 2, not so much. I think that this is an intentional and conscious design decision by Anet. Of course they never said they were going to remove elitism from the genre. Elitists exist in every game.

However they made design choices that help limit the elitism. You can't view other people's equipment, there's no gear scores, there's no way anyone can check on anyone else's damage. If Anet wanted this game to be competitive in PVe, I'm pretty sure they could have added these elements.

I didn't say the person who got kicked was elitist, just that the other people weren't either but if anyone is its him/her.
I just don't get this thread, although this is a common theme with the OPs threads.
This doesn't reflect negatively on Anet at all. At the end of the day the person may have insulted someone and that deserves a kick IMO. It doesn't matter how offensive it was, I'm sure everyone is aware that people are over sensitive these days.
It's not even like they kicked him because they would get increased loot or something. They kicked him after asking about the guys gear because he was slow so that was the trigger which means he was insulted and that's not something they have to put up with.

What I'm trying to say, yes scientificaly what you say is true. A monkey in a really nice silk outfit is from a bilogical classification standpoint, still a monkey. But is he JUST a monkey at that point? We really need to explore this further becaues I don't think adequate monkey/silk analysis has been performed.

Think about it, you see a monkey in a tailored sharp silk suit and you can assume this is an afluent monkey. A monkey that's made some right moves along the way. Perhaps he has a stock tip or two? Clearly he has a sense of style and craves the comfort of that smooth texture against his fur. This is a monkey that gets things done and looks good doing it. Would you hire this monkey? Sounds perposterous, but this monkey is smart enough to procure and put on a silk suit and he did show up for the interview right? Plus his cover letter is well written.

No sir, a monkey dressed in silk is most certianly not still just a monkey and you'd be wise to remember that.
