The MMO world is dominated by nerds with too much time in their hands and rather badly formed personalities.
Grievers who like to take out their testosterone angst on newbs on the internet. People who take these games far too seriously because that's all they have going on in their lives.

Ganging up on newbs is surely the internet's favourite pastime.

Meh, you have a point that does tend to happen here and there but I don't see it that much in this game. (elitism) Griefing is almost non existant either. Can't talk to enemies. If you grief players in chat, I'msure you will get banned. So I'm thinking you're confusing this with other MMO's.

However, I don't think I'm wrong that there should be some MINIMUM standard of proficiency when you enter WvW or spvp because it isn't PVE. Or if you don't, to ask for help. I would LOVE it if I got 10 players that didn't know what they were doing and came to me and said, so how does this work? vs 20 players that didn't bother to ask and did things that actively hurt our server. You entered into an area where it's group play, and mass warfare, you have to work with others to help out.

This is not so much an issue in guild wars 2 as it is in other mmos. You will always have some elitism in any social environment. Its human nature.

You are on a game forum. This tends to be a very small portion of the game players and out of them, im sure more than a few believe themselves to be elite and may take offense to such a statement.

And now I must tell a story. Im commanding our defense on the IOJ BL...I spend 25s on the first bay upgrade, escort yaks, spend the money. Then I spend 75s on the walls and escort yaks while CD comes into our BL with 4 times our numbers and starts trebbing and cataing our walls. We make a few pushes to take siege out, we set up counter siege but the entire tiem we're CONSTANTLY posting in chat and in say "dont take suply from teh keep"...it's not day 1 for the love of god, know what is going on. And we have people taking suply to build the wall back up (ITS BEING TREBBED WTF ARE YOU DOING) and we ended up being about 50 supply short of getting the walls upgraded and having them RESET to 100% health and buying us enough time to get more numbers.

So after that, I make many peopel run to inner and set up counter siege, they push in we wipe them. Then we rush out and wipe their siege on the outter and then EVEN AFTER I POST IN CHAT 10 times, don't fight around the outter gate, we have over 10 people fighting there. They get killed ofciourse. Now it's 8 v 30-40. They rush in, and even with siege and lord we get wiped...and if they pugs just listened we could have farmed them all day or until reinforcements arrived so we can repair and push out.

All my time and money, wasted because peple don't understand that WvW is about tactics and siege and not your 1k auto attack.

It's not that bad, it's rare when there are no other commanders on, so I try not to put on the tag if I can help it. I honestly would trade it for my 100g in a heartbeat. Heck I'd settle for 75g at this point. Do. not. like.

i would feel better if it was something earned, not just a symbal of your disposable income. Or a combination of both.

Oh come on, I WvW every day for hours. Spend money on upgrades. Escort dolyaks. Flip supply camps. Generally kick WvW bootie...I saved up that much money over months of play. I didn't use gems. I didn't buy gold from spammers. Cut me a little slack my friend.

Well I don't think he was implying you don't deserve yours, but a lot of people don't.

Last week, or maybe the week before we were retaking our garrison and our glorious commander throws out a flame ram at the front door and yells, "build this before the oil kills it" Seriously. Once the ram is built, also note he only threw one out and there are TONS of enemies on the walls (luckly they didn't rush us cause they outnumbered us 2:1 easily. I throw a balista on the stairs on the outwall so i can take the people on the wall and kill their siege. I ask in chat for people to help build. The commander says back "NO. DON'T BUILD THAT BUILD THE RAM" So I say back, " ram is built genius, balista is placed to kill siege and players on wall earn your commander don't just buy it" To which he responds a minute later, "fine run your own supply." But thankfully there were a few other smart people there and the balista got built and I destroyed all the siege on the wall, including the oil (though admitedly lots of people were attacking it with normal attacks). I also scattered the enemies on the wall. One push came out, but it was weak and they came for me and my balista, (4 people) thankfully I was on my guardian that day and alternated between attacking with my toon and hopping on the balista for the aoe shot. Took 2 out, before allies came and finished one more with the last one taking off.

Amazingly we managed to take the garrison, (but only cause the 3rd world was hitting one of the other keeps so they wanted it more than they wanted garrison.

Yeah to be honest, I always thought the commander books were the stupidest gold sink I've ever seen in an MMO. Ever.
