This thread is lol worthy.
BTW, I have not played GW2 for a month or so now, but the $60 I spent on it was in no way a waste of money. I got 250 hours of serious fun out of it. Great return on investment for me.

It is lol worthy indeed!
The game for me has been getting really interesting now that I am at lvl80. Working toward map completion is rewarding. Anet is actually adding new content that has been a blast. Fractals of the Mist is pretty neat! It's pretty much equivalent to the End of Time from Chrono Trigger in a strange sort of way. Instead you get one portal and who the heck knows where it'll take you but it is interesting to relive moments in Tyrian history or see something from the future! Heck, I got to witness the fall of Ascalon as a CHARR in one of the fractals! (btw, when I say as a CHARR, I mean everyone will automatically turn into a Charr if you get this fractal. I'm normally a human...lol) It was pretty cool!
Halloween was amazing with how they transformed the world and now I am thrilled for Wintersday to see what they do this time! Plus Jumping Puzzles.....woof! This is the first MMO I have played that doesn't feel like a job for once...and I've played ALOT of MMOs.
As others have pointed out, GW2 can be a waste of money for certain types of players, but it's a great game worth buying for many other types.
I don't know, from a business standpoint exactly when hours played = money spent = great deal, but I would definitely say I've already gotten my money's worth so far even if for some reason I quit playing. I like the lack of monthly fee for sure and I've enjoyed the events that have come out since launch. I'm looking forward to their holiday event next month and I still have a lot of content to see yet in general.![]()
A couple of my other hobbies outside gaming include scuba diving and astronomy...wish the setup costs were comparable to GW2...wish i could manage anywhere near as many hours partaking in them. Heck my ebook cost more than GW2, how many people have ever bought an ebook and never used it....and then gone back and complained demanding their money back?!
Why? You are young. You don't have to worry about getting a grey hair or having a stroke.

Yeah, I scuba dive and even if you own your equipment, it is not cheap; you have to pay to transport it and you still have to pay for the boat ride.
The world is full of pain and sorrow.
Life is fleeting and true moments of joy are few and far between.
Happiness is laced with shards of pain.
Scuba diving would never work for me. One if I die, I can not go back to a way point, and Me and Sharks have a understanding, I stay out of there ocean, they stay out of my back yard. It works for both of us.![]()
Even worse over here in the UK. You guys dive in wetsuits which is nice and cheap. North Sea is a little cooler so we have to wear dry suits with thermals, ie mine cost £800 for drysuit and £120 +£150 for the thermals, and thats not particularly expensive gear and still got your other gear...BCD, computer, reg set, tank, mask, fins, weights, torches, camera's etc to add to the mix...and can't even get in the water before doing a £350 course, which limits what you can do still, next up another £500 for PADI advanced etc etc never ending (i'm just at advanced level atm). If I spend that sort of money in the GW2 shop someone please shoot me lol
...and wheres my kitten in a wetsuit? lol
oh here she is...
