Mesmers, anyone?

I'm bored. Power shut off so I can't actually play the game (I'm on my laptop now, running on battery) so I decided to make a new thread. I'm not sure if this should actually go here, but here goes.

So, in GW1 I never could use Elementalists and absolutely HATED Mesmer. Couldn't stand playing Mes, couldn't stand looking at them, and I absolutely hated fighting them.

But in GW2, I almost stuck with an Elementalist, but decided on a Mes. Now my Mesmer is quickly becoming my favorite. I love the phantasms and the clones ^.^

Anyone else feel the same?

Nope. Ele main in GW1, ele main in GW2. GW2 was more out of stubbornness at first. It took me awhile to get the hang of it and learn to play, but once I had a couple of epiphanies I've loved it.

I'm jealous of your loyalty. My main in GW1 was a ranger. I tried a ranger for my very first character... He lasted about 5 minutes. =/

And as for Ele, I had a hard time deciding between Necro, Mes, or Ele. I eventually stuck with the Necro, then bought a slot for the Mes. But I've never given an Ele (or a Mes, for that matter) so much thought >< I've even still tempted to delete my Mes or my Necro for the Ele =/

Never tried one in GW. My vote would be irrelevant.

I couldn't get into them in GW1. It's not because they weren't awesome, they just weren't my cup of tea. Things have changed since then and I love them. They were always one of my favorite classes, I just didn't want to play one back in GW1.

I didn't try them in GW1...

And in GW2, I had pretty much decided I'll probably never play one...until today, when I said to myself, "ah, hell, why not make something I'll never play, just to see what it's like? An Asuran Mesmer!"

And...I'm actually having fun. I managed to make what I consider to be a "cute" Asura (I generally hate the race as a whole), and the class of mesmer has been really fun for these first few levels. We'll see how long I continue on her!

But my two mains will probably forever be my favourite - Sylvari Ranger and Norn Elementalist.

Haha! I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one discovering a love for Mesmers. Granted, my main is still and probably will always be my Engineer, but yeah... =)

I have played a Mesmer in Guild Wars and I think their legacy carried over very well into Guild Wars 2. There are definitely less interrupts in the Guild Wars 2 version, but it's still really fun. Who could argue with purple?

I'm not really sure if I could call them "better" or not, because they're such different games. Both versions are fun!

Mesmer was my second character in GW1 and remained my second fav behind my main ranger. Some of my other chars did have more titles and exp than him but that was because they were more powerful solo farmers, more loved in groups etc but the AoE buff and faction skills they got was a welcomed pve update. I have a human mesmer in GW2 called Mesmertronic which i intend to give some serious time to but still only about level 20 atm, its time will come though. Like any class i don't expect to 'love' it until i have all my skill slots and traits available to play with. So far seems alot of a Mesmer/ritualist hybrid but seems to work
