    Someone tried to hack me...

So I just went to check my email and I a verification notification that someone was trying to log in to my account from China... obviously, I denied it and promptly changed my password... but yeah. I'm kind of stunned. I've been making sure not to do anything stupid anywhere with this, and am only a member of this board and my guild's board, so I have to wonder...

I suddenly don't feel safe here.

Update: I change my information here and on my guild site, but this site was the closest to the information I previously had on GW2 (not the same, but close, all of which everywhere has since been changed)... so I'm going to venture a guess that if something happened for my information to be taken from a message board, that it was this one.

Just a heads up to everyone else out there.

I've said it before and I will say it again... I highly recommend to NOT use the same email address that you use for Guild Wars 2 for any other website or forum. Although we, the mods and admins of this forum, would gain absolutely nothing from abusing your information, this is a community run site run by a few fans of the game as a hobby. And although we do try to keep the site updated with the latest security patches, if sites from multi-billion dollar companies can get hacked, that means we cannot possibly guarantee that something like that will never happen to us. So play it safe: use a unique email address for your Guild Wars 2 account!

The same happened to me. I got an email asking if I'd authorize a login from Shanghai. I quickly denied it and changed several of my passwords, all to different passwords from each other.

I did some time ago, follow this advice, got myself a unique password and email address ONLY used for this game. Problem is I tend to forget to check that e-mail account.

Oh no... I've had so many problems setting up my e-mails and passwords for both this forum and the game, I'm not even sure what my e-mail/password is most of the time. I actually had to save my GW2 e-mail and password in the launcher so I could actually play it O.o

    ...I hope that means I'm safe ><

If you have problems remembering which email belongs to which password, then I recommend using a tool such as KeePass. You will only have to remember one password... the password that you use for that tool. All other information you can look up right there.

I have a question... it may be dumb... but how do I change the email address used for the game? I logged into the GW2 website and didn't see an option, nor do I see one on the game client. I know I'm probably just being blind here, but any help would be nice.

There used to be an option under My Profile in your account settings to enter a new email address... but I just checked, and it's no longer there. Come to think of it, I do recall them mentioning in the patch notes that they disabled it as it was used a lot by hackers to make it harder for you to get your hacked account back.
So right now, I believe that the only way to change the email address on an account, is through a support ticket.

I use RoboForm and I always use the maximum length for a password that is allowed.
